A Life Saved. A Community Grateful. ๐โค๏ธ๐
Just under a month ago, Williston High School student Caleb experienced a life-threatening cardiac arrest medical emergency during the school day.
A Raptor medical team alert was initiated by Caleb's classroom teacher, Brandon Delvo, and help was mobilized within moments. Because of quick action and a prepared response team, Calebโs life was saved. ๐ซถ
Two School Resource Officers, Officers Cook and Nelson, quickly began CPR, and Nursing Director Lynn Douglas used an AED to revive him. Their calm response, training, and teamwork made an extraordinary difference in a critical moment.
We are grateful to share that Caleb is doing well today, thanks to medical care and the continued support surrounding him during his recovery. โค๏ธ
Calebโs mother, a librarian at WMSCC, asked that we share this story to recognize the three staff members who responded in that critical moment, along with the broader WHS team, Williston Fire Department, and medical providers who supported Caleb and his family in the days and weeks that followed.
The family also asked that we extend their heartfelt thanks to district staff and students, and to the many community members and organizations who have surrounded them with care during Calebโs recovery, including Ethanโs Heart and Studio 89 Dance Co.
From meals and messages to thoughtful gifts and generous financial support, the outpouring of kindness has meant more than they can put into words. ๐งก
We are deeply grateful for the preparedness, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by everyone involved. Their actions reflect the strength of our safety systems and the care our staff and community have for students each day. ๐ซ
Special thanks Williams County Sheriff's Office, ND for their assistance in saving Calebโs life as well.
