When asking a five year old, if they knew what a protest was or why teachers made the decision to join, the child’s response was, “We treat everyone equally here and we teach kindness every day. We want everyone to be safe and right now not everyone is,” and later, “This is like a field trip for teachers to go and show up for kindness.”

At WEC we believe in fostering a sense of belonging, and we teach the children in our care, the value of creating a safe space for everyone. So yesterday, Friday January 30, teachers showed up and used their voices to show solidarity with all of the people— families, and children who have been recently affected by the violence across the country. We are stronger, together. ❤️💙
