sunny days 🤝 sun catchers

Ms. Levine's first-grade class constructed their very own sun catchers using opaque, transparent, and translucent materials. By learning through making, the children were able to see how light passes through each material differently.

At Schechter, science and smiling kids go hand in hand. Come see what we mean at our Lower School Open House on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. Visit https://forms.gle/4ecbnRRD24zzFYWC6 to register!

📖 KABBALAT CHUMASH 📖

This morning we held a special ceremony to celebrate our second graders receiving their first-ever Chumash!

To show their preparation for studying Sefer Beresh*t, the students sang us through the first parsha of the Torah, which details the creation of the world. Dressed as the birds in the sky and the fishes in the sea, they showed their excitement for carrying these stories through the rest of their education at Schechter.

Mazal Tov Kitah Bet on this astounding achievement, and Shabbat Shalom! ✨

Ready, steady, GO‼️

Our 3rd-graders got a crash course in the rules of the road during their field trip to Safety Town. From learning about pedestrian laws and different traffic signs to riding bikes and driving cars, they put their newfound knowledge to good use!

Last week, 5th-grader Sophie R. visited Ms. Villalta's 2nd-grade class for a special read-aloud session! 📖

Sophie read the children's book "Eggs & Woof: Adopt a Pet," which was written by her Uncle Ari. It follows the two main characters on a heartwarming adventure as they meet new friends and learn about how to choose the perfect pet.

We're so proud of Sophie for taking on the task of reading aloud to our younger students, and thank Ms. Villalta's class for being so attentive during the session! ✨
