Good morning! Points from Sundays huge zoom call…
Please share this widely:
In case folks weren’t able to get in the BLKWNForKAMALA Zoom— here are takeaways from folks who were present:
1) Much of the call was a virtual rally to galvanize support -- lots of significant women democrats are lining up behind her: Donna Brazille, Maxine Waters, Bernice King, etc.
2) We got some stats-- one of the most important is that internal polling showed Kamala 4 points ahead of Biden in a general election.
3) There is also a push to get delegates secured before the convention. No one on the line thought an open convention was in Kamala's best interest.
4) They also asked Black women to be vocal in their communities about support for Kamala: in the group chats, at the sorority events, on FB, at the cookout, in churches, etc.
5)They asked us to familiarize ourselves with talking points and be ready to share them.
6)There is also a sign up for local community support. The call was super open ended.
7) Finally, it acted as a fundraiser-- during the 2-hour Zoom, the 44k women present contributed over 1 million dollars.
