The Willimantic Whitewater BioBlitz is coming October 17 & 18!

What’s living, growing, flying, crawling, and swimming around Willimantic and the Willimantic River? Let’s find out.

Wildlife Research Alliance, Willimantic Whitewater Partnership, and Project Imo are teaming up for a weekend of community science using iNaturalist to document the plants, animals, insects, fungi, and other species that call our area home.

The BioBlitz runs all weekend, and you can participate on your own anytime. Just get outside, explore, and record what you find with iNaturalist.

Or join us Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM–4 PM at Idea Forge Studios, 54 North Street, Willimantic. Pick up a BioBlitz walking guide, learn how to use iNaturalist, meet the organizations involved, and head out toward Willimantic Whitewater Park with our youth guides.

We’ll also have our Craft Fair & Tag Sale Fundraiser happening at Idea Forge Studios, plus prizes for BioBlitz participants who rack up the most observations and unique finds.

You don’t need to be a scientist. You just need to be curious. Our science team will review the observations after the event.
