A well-deserved honor for a familiar face in the SUNY Erie community!

Congratulations to Chef Mark Wright on his induction into the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque, one of the highest honors a chef can receive in the United States.

A longtime member of the SUNY Erie community, Chef Wright previously served as Chair of the Hospitality Department and continues to share his expertise as an adjunct faculty member. From mentoring aspiring culinary professionals to supporting college events, his dedication to the culinary arts and SUNY Erie has made a lasting impact.

The Golden Toque recognizes chefs who have demonstrated at least 20 years of professional service, exceptional achievement, and a lasting commitment to advancing the culinary profession. Membership is limited to just 100 lifetime members, and candidates must be nominated by three active members and approved through a rigorous selection process. Chef Wright was one of only four chefs inducted this year.

We are proud to see Chef Wright receive this extraordinary recognition and grateful for all he continues to bring to SUNY Erie and the next generation of culinary professionals.

SUNY Reconnect is expanding, creating new opportunities for New Yorkers ages 25–55 to return to college and prepare for a new career.

Starting Spring 2027, eligible students can pursue an eligible high-demand associate degree tuition-free, even if they already have a college degree in another field. Funding may also help cover fees, books and supplies after other financial aid is applied.

SUNY Erie was pleased to welcome SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. and his team to City Campus yesterday for a visit that showcased some of the people and spaces that make our college special.

During his visit, Chancellor King spent time talking with our EOP students, hearing about their experiences and discussing the continued efforts to expand support and opportunities for SUNY students. He also stopped to see our newly renovated Atrium before joining us for lunch at the Statler Dining Room, where meals are prepared and served by our Culinary Arts students.

Thank you to Chancellor King and his team for spending time with our students, exploring City Campus and experiencing a little of what SUNY Erie has to offer. We also thank Trustee Eunice Lewin for joining us for the visit. We appreciate Chancellor King’s continued commitment to expanding student supports and creating new opportunities for students across SUNY.

We’ve been a little busy lately. ❤️

The Kats are back at home this Saturday, and it’s a big one. SUNY Erie takes on Hudson Valley Community College at 2 p.m. at the North Campus Athletic Field as two undefeated teams meet on the field.

It’s also our First Responder Game, where we’ll recognize local first responders and SUNY Erie students, faculty and staff who serve their communities.

Plus, Williamsville South Cheerleaders will perform at halftime, and the first 250 fans will receive a free rally towel.

Admission is always free. Come out and cheer on the Kats! 🐾

A sixth year of national recognition for SUNY Erie’s Respiratory Care program!

The program has earned the 2026 CoARC Credentialing Success Award, recognizing respiratory care programs that demonstrate strong student outcomes and sustained program quality.

This year, only 78 of nearly 400 CoARC-accredited programs nationwide received the award, placing SUNY Erie among the top 20%. SUNY Erie is also the only associate degree Respiratory Care program in New York State to receive the honor this year.

Congratulations to our Respiratory Care students, faculty, clinical partners and alumni on this outstanding achievement!
