Help us celebrate incoming 6th grader Austin Moore, who was named This Week's Hometown Hero by 107.9 WNCT Radio!

He has seen a lot in his 11 years. Through it all, Austin has dug deep and kept shining with a heart of service, putting others first!

We are so proud of you, Austin, and hope you have an amazing school year!

Austin Moore from Robersonville was
nominated by his mom Columbia, who writes:

I am the mom to an amazing young man. Austin is 11 years old and has gone through a LOT in his 11 years. One of his three brothers was killed by a vehicle three years ago, and less than 11 months later his dad, my husband, passed away from lung cancer. Then his Grandmother passed that same year.

What amazes me about Austin is how, despite all of these losses, he has been able to shine!!! This summer he set up a table with various items to sell...half of the money he earns he uses to purchase more items. The other half he uses to buy gas cards to donate to the ECU Health Cancer Care Clinic in Tarboro for the cancer patients receiving treatment. So far he has donated 12 $25 gas cards totaling $300! He does this in memory of his dad, as that clinic is where he was receiving treatment before he passed away. Austin is MY hero in every way. He has such a big heart. I hope he continues with his journey. And I love him beyond measure!!!

Oh what a night!!

Tonight’s Open House was such an incredible reminder of what can happen when two schools come together with one shared purpose. Seeing our halls filled with students, families, laughter, excitement, and so much Gator pride made my heart full!

Bringing two schools together is no small task, and tonight would not have been possible without so many people working behind the scenes.

A huge **THANK YOU to our MCS Technology Department** for making sure we were ready to go!

To our **MCS Maintenance Department**—thank you for the countless hours, quick fixes, heavy lifting, and all the little things that helped turn a building into OUR school.

To our **incredible staff**—you have worked SO hard. You showed up tonight with smiles, energy, and love for our students and families. I could not be prouder of this team.

And to my **admin team**—STELLAR. Simply stellar. You have jumped in, carried the load, solved problems, encouraged others, and helped bring this vision to life every step of the way.

Tonight wasn't just an Open House. It was the beginning of something special.

**Two schools. One family. One Gator Nation. STRONGER TOGETHER.**

Today was one of those days that reminded me why I still love what I do.
Today our staff returned, and for the first time, two schools came together as one team. Different experiences, different traditions, different stories, but now we have the opportunity to build something new together.
As I looked around the room, I was reminded just how fortunate I am to work alongside an incredible group of educators who are willing to roll up their sleeves, trust one another, and begin building what Martin County Middle School will become.
I’m grateful for our amazing staff, excited about the incredible students we get to serve, and thankful for fellow principals and school leaders who support, encourage, and understand this work.
We aren't just opening a new school year. We're building a new school family, a new culture, and a story that will be ours to write together.
The foundation is strong. Now it's time to build.
Stronger Together.

Martin County Schools is making it easy for families to get ready for the new school year with a floating Infinite Campus Parent Night on Thursday, August 13, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
There is no set arrival time — simply stop by any time between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. when it works best for your schedule.

Teaching Assignment:
First Semester: Two English Language Arts (ELA) blocks and one Social Studies block
