Congratulations to Michael Buzzy! A Central Michigan University Honors Program student double majoring in Philosophy and Political Science, Michael has been awarded a coveted Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) by the U.S. Dept. of State. Extremely competitive, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages - specifically 15 languages that are critical to America's national security and economic prosperity. CLS participants are citizen ambassadors, sharing American values and promoting American influence abroad. This summer, Michael will be involved in an intensive study of two different dialects of the Persian Language: Farsi (which is spoken in Iran) and Tajiki (which is spoken in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). Michael is currently leading tours of the A Revolution of Thought Hiroshima/Nagasaki Poster Exhibit in Powers Hall and is a regular contributor to the Ethics Talk/Virtues of Peace podcast, and is a most valued contributor to the The Center for International Ethics.
