Penn College Workforce Development is now recruiting for the next class (late summer) of our Bus Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship, a two-year, registered program designed for public transit agencies across the Commonwealth who need to grow their own skilled technicians.

Here's how it works: apprentices keep their jobs and learn while they earn. The program pairs intensive, hands-on lab time on our Williamsport campus twice each year with a weekly virtual class, so it's structured enough to build real skills, and flexible enough to accommodate working adults.

During the program, apprentices earn the following credentials: EPA 608, EPA 609, PA State Inspection, and PA Emissions. Apprentices also have access to navigation services and may be eligible for additional support services, like childcare subsidies, through the end of our PASmart grant.

This is a fit for transit authorities, school districts, motorcoach and charter operators, university transportation departments, municipal fleets, any organization operating buses that needs qualified people to maintain them.
