There’s something about St. Eustatius that doesn’t shout for attention—it gently pulls you in and then never quite lets go!💙

They call it “Statia,” and once you visit, you’ll understand why people speak about it with this quiet kind of love. This isn’t the Caribbean of big resorts and crowds—it’s raw beauty, rich history, and the kind of peace you didn’t realize you needed.

At the heart of the island rises The Quill, a dormant volcano that feels like something out of a dream. You can hike all the way up—and even down into its crater—where lush rainforest grows inside, almost like a secret world hidden in plain sight. It’s one of the few places where you can stand inside a volcano and just… listen to nature.

But here’s a fun fact that surprises almost everyone: back in 1776, this tiny island made a huge statement—it became the first place in the world to officially recognize the United States with what’s known as the “First Salute.” History feels alive here, especially as you wander through Oranjestad, where old warehouses and colonial buildings whisper stories from centuries ago.

And then there’s the sea…🌊
St. Eustatius National Marine Park is one of the island’s true treasures. It completely surrounds Statia, protecting vibrant coral reefs, shipwrecks, and marine life that feels almost untouched by time. Divers from around the world come here for a reason—this is some of the best diving in the Caribbean. Imagine swimming alongside sea turtles, colorful reef fish, and exploring historic wrecks resting quietly beneath crystal-clear water. Even if you don’t dive, snorkeling here feels like stepping into a living aquarium.

A few more things that make Statia special:
There are no traffic lights on the island—life moves at its own calm rhythm.
It’s a haven for history lovers, with more than 300 archaeological sites.
The cliffs and coastline create some of the most dramatic ocean views you’ll ever see.
And the sunsets? They don’t just end the day—they pause it.
Down by the coast, especially around Lower Town, you’ll find a quiet charm—boats gently rocking, waves lapping, and a feeling that time has slowed just for you.

What makes St. Eustatius unforgettable isn’t just what you see—it’s what you feel. It’s the warmth of the people, the stillness of the landscape, and the sense that you’ve stumbled upon something rare and real.

If you’re looking for a place that doesn’t try too hard but gives you everything—beauty, history, adventure, and peace—Statia is waiting for you. And once you go… you’ll always carry a piece of it with you!🌴

Cornwall Preserve Clean-Up Event

On May 2 from 9am to 12pm... Join RU4Scuba, Parks & Trails New York, and thousands of volunteers across the state in celebrating and enhancing New York’s parks. I Love My Park Day is the largest single-day volunteer event in NYS. It presents a perfect opportunity to clean up our favorite parks and shorelines, plant trees and gardens, restore trails and wildlife habitat, remove invasive species, and work on various site improvement projects, which helps to prepare our state park system for the start of the season. As divers and aquatic enthusiasts, we bring unique skills to reach areas our land-bound friends cannot.

This year, we will be cleaning up the Cornwall Preserve located at 3975 Lake Road, Williamson, NY. It's just a short drive from the dive shop. Find out more about the Cornwall Preserve here.

Whether you are a diver or just want to get involved as a guardian of our public parks, sign up below. We'll share some stories and make a difference in the process.

Well, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade!

Our long planned trip to the Solomon Islands had an unexpected twist when we learned the night before leaving for Honiara that our liveaboard had an issue with the boat and could not take us on our trip.

There we were in Brisbane Australia contemplating our options along with Fly and Sea Dive Adventures. We decided to pivot from the Solomon Islands to Walindi Plantation Resort in Papua New Guinea. What a great choice! The staff was fantastic and we had two boats taking our group out on 3 dives each day. We had excursions to the hot river, the market, and the nearby Garbuna Volcano.

It was an unexpected adventure, but we embraced it and enjoyed our time with the Walindi team!

There may have been 18 foot waves on Lake Ontario and hailstorms around the area today…but the quarry was serene. This ridge in the middle does get really shallow this time of the year, though visibility was up to about 15’ at the training platform and as much as 30’ out near the far side! 🤿

We just completed a trip to Bonaire (Nov 1-8). It was a great trip with 15 dives and several excursions. Shore diving is a great way to gain flexibility and autonomy in the group's daily plans.

What is your favorite Bonaire dive site?
