This weekend, our faculty and staff came together to welcome our newest Patriots and their families to campus. From carrying boxes to offering directions and a friendly welcome, it is a simple reminder of what makes this community special.

Last week, we were honored to host Camp UNITE at Cumberlands. For 20 years, Operation UNITE has provided middle school students with a free summer camp experience focused on leadership, teamwork, communication, confidence, and service. Equally important is the opportunity for campers to create friendships and lifelong memories through fun, hands-on activities. We are grateful to Operation UNITE for investing in Kentucky's youth and for allowing Cumberlands to be a small part of this meaningful mission. I want to offer a special note of appreciation to our Summer Orientation Leaders. Thank you for the time, energy, and care you invest in welcoming new students and their families to Cumberlands. Your leadership helps create a sense of belonging from the moment new Patriots arrive on campus.

One of the things I appreciate most about Cumberlands is watching students grow into leaders who invest in others. Our Orientation Leaders were once new students themselves, arriving on campus with excitement, questions, and a desire to find their place. Today, they are the first to welcome the next generation of Patriots, helping new students begin their own Cumberlands journey with confidence.

That's the Cumberlands experience. Students are welcomed, challenged, and equipped to lead. And in time, they become the mentors who help someone else begin their own journey.

A vision years in the making is now a reality.
It was an honor to celebrate the grand opening of Mighty Oaks Early Learning Center, made possible through a community partnership among Williamsburg Independent School District, Main Street Baptist Church, Partners for Rural Impact and University of the Cumberlands.

This investment reflects what is possible when organizations come together with a shared commitment to children, families, and the future of our community. We are grateful to everyone whose vision, dedication, and support helped bring this project to life.
Congratulations to all who made this milestone possible. We look forward to seeing the lasting impact Mighty Oaks will have on generations of young learners.

As we celebrate Independence Day and commemorate 250 years of our nation's founding, we are reminded of the courage, conviction, and sacrifice that made the American experiment possible.

In a letter to Abigail Adams, John Adams wrote that this day "ought to be commemorated" with celebration and gratitude. Nearly two and a half centuries later, his words continue to ring true.

Today, may we give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy, honor those who have served and sacrificed to preserve them, and recommit ourselves to the ideals of liberty, opportunity, and service that continue to shape our nation.
