On Sept. 2, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra returns to the Martha Wren Briggs Amphitheatre at Lake Matoaka for a free evening of orchestral favorites — from E.T.'s “Flying Theme” to selections from Rodger & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with music beginning at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited, so wristbands will be distributed first-come, first-served beginning at 6 p.m.

Bring a blanket or beach chair, pack a picnic and settle in for an unforgettable night by the lake.
