The USNews Annual college rankings are out and not everyone is happy...again. This year "greater emphasis" was placed on social mobility" meaning there were some significant shifts in college rankings. Many public colleges, like Rutgers and San Diego State, have moved up significantly which definitely highlights the hard work they have been doing in the areas of college access for years. However, with the sweet comes the bitter pill that schools like Vanderbilt, American, and Wake Forest are feeling.
Vanderbilt, which fell from 13 to the 18th spot even posted a scathing message criticizing the USNews rankings.
Personally, I feel that this was an important update to the rankings that simply provides students and parents a clearer picture of the huge life and financial investment that they are being asked to make.
What are your thoughts? Do you follow the rankings? Have they helped you or your student make that important college choice decision?
