IB Trait Spotlight: Inquirers

At WCA, we believe in the power of hands-on learning to cultivate inquisitive minds. As an IB World School, we encourage students to ask meaningful questions, explore ideas deeply, and engage in the world around them with curiosity and purpose.

When students investigate, experiment, and reflect, they’re not just learning content; they’re developing the mindset of an Inquirer. They learn to think critically, observe closely, and draw conclusions based on evidence. Whether they’re exploring scientific concepts, diving into literature, or solving real-world problems, they are practicing the skills that will help them become lifelong learners and thoughtful global citizens.

The Eagles Varsity Soccer team was on the road for their first two games of the season, collecting back-to-back wins against The New Community School 4-2 and Banner Christian School 3-1. Goalkeeper and Senior Ian Liggin collectively racked up 8 saves while standout Freshman and newcomer to WCA, Matteo L., led scoring with 4 total goals, followed by returning Sophomores Noah Bruce and Jim Luerweg with 2 each.
Assist accolades so far for the season go to Freshmen Teo and Kellan Johns, Junior Gonzalo Garcia, and Senior Toby L. The Varsity Eagles are facing a tough conference competitor in Grace Christian back on the road this coming Friday

Our shop class students met Michael Siewers, a fourth-generation owner of the 142-year-old business Siewers Lumber and Millwork. They toured the showroom, lumber yard, and millwork shop, and learned about the business's history. Mr. Siewers shared information about the different species of wood that are commercially available, their uses, and how they are sold and priced. He also explained how the shop makes the blades it uses in the millwork shop to custom-match the antique trim and moldings unique to Richmond architecture. Thank you, Michael Siewers, for taking the time to educate and inspire our students!
