09/02/26-From earlier this year-Mrs. Ashley’s Kindergarten class is learning to recognize the numbers 1, 2, and 3 when they are shown in different arrangements.

Using the ViewSonic, students are practicing identifying numbers, counting objects, and connecting numbers to quantities in a fun and interactive way! 🔢😀

09/02/26-Students at Whitley County East Elementary are enjoying their newly redesigned STREAM lab. Each Tuesday and Thursday, our students in grades K-6 have classes in the lab with Mrs. Georgette Vanover.

Mustangs recently enjoyed completing the LEGO Initial Challenge as shown in the photos. If you look closely, you can see art work and murals hand painted by previous Mustangs!

STREAM (Science , Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) focuses on a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to thinking, learning, and integrating skills from these disciplines into creative, engaging and enjoyable hands-on lessons.

STEM, STEAM, and STREAM related careers and jobs are also among the best paying occupations, and are excellent for brain development and critical thinking.

As you can see, our Mustangs enjoyed their projects very much!

From August 28th-Family Resource Center and Partners for Rural Impact celebrated July and August birthdays!

Happy birthday, everyone!

🎉Every month FRC & PFRI TEAM UP AND CELEBRATE THE K-6 birthdays.

In August, we celebrate August in July and in May we celebrate May and June birthdays. Preschool has their own celebration in the spring for all year long so as not to disturb their nap time.🎉

08/28/26-The Mustangs celebrated the life, legacy, and memory of Dolly Parton recently, including a special project in Mrs.Vanover’s STREAM class where students read the children’s book and song by Dolly about her “Coat of Many Colors” and its powerful message about growing up, making do, dealing with teasing, and celebrating the simple things in life that enrich us.

In Dolly’s own words: “One is only poor, only if they choose to be.”

From all of the Mustangs, thank you, Dolly for the music, books, wisdom, and smiles, not to mention the many trips to Dollywood over the years. Thank you for the impact and difference you made and continue to make. Some heroes wear capes while others wear rhinestones and wigs, but they are heroes just the same.
