🥕🛒 Welcome to the Dolphin Mart! 🐬

Happy VA Farm to School Week! We’re celebrating James River Elementary’s Dolphin Mart, where students get to “shop” for fresh veggies while practicing counting, budgeting, and making healthy choices! 🥦🍅

After filling their baskets, students put their creativity to work by dreaming up well-rounded meals using the vegetables they selected. Talk about a farm-to-table lesson! 🌱

A huge thank-you to KelRae Farms for providing SHIP and WJCC with these delicious, fresh veggies! 💚 Farm School Health Initiative Program SHIP

👟📚 Learning in motion!
Today, Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools' elementary paraprofessionals participated in “Integrating Movement in Learning,” a session led by the School Health Initiative Program SHIP as part of their professional development day. They explored fun, practical ways to weave movement into learning throughout the school day!
Thank you to our paraprofessionals for the energy, creativity, and care you bring to our classrooms—and for helping make learning active and engaging for every student! 💙

💵 Third graders practiced counting money, weighing produce, and choosing their own vegetables.

📖🍎 Reading is fundamental—even when it comes to making healthy choices!

After a recent SHIP nutrition lesson with Ms. Underwood on serving size and servings per container, Mrs. Lipinski’s class at Laurel Lane Elementary School took their learning home! Students brought in food labels from home and practiced using their new skills to read and understand nutrition information.

By learning how to read a food label, students are building practical skills that can help them make informed, healthy choices now and in the future.
