π VARSITY VOLLEYBALL β CHICO HIGH TOURNAMENT
The Williams Varsity Volleyball team competed in the Chico High Tournament, battling against several larger schools and showing tremendous grit and determination throughout the day. πͺπ
The Yellowjackets opened tournament play against Oakmont of Roseville, falling in two hard-fought sets. They also competed well against tournament host Chico High before earning a strong victory over McKinleyville in pool play. The girls played their best match of the tournament against McKinleyville, working together and finishing with a well-deserved win! ππ₯
Williams later faced Gridley in bracket play. The Yellowjackets came close to winning the opening set but ultimately fell short in the match. Despite the results, the team competed hard, gained valuable experience, and represented Williams with pride. π€π‘
π JV VOLLEYBALL β COACH ACEVES
It was a busy and competitive week for the Williams JV Volleyball team, filled with opportunities for growth, teamwork, and individual accomplishments.
Tuesday vs. Clear Lake β Home
The Yellowjackets split the first two sets, forcing a deciding third set. Although the team fell short in the final set, the girls competed hard and supported one another throughout the match.
β Natasha G. had an excellent defensive performance, making several great digs and working hard to keep the ball in play.
β Esmeralda R. did a great job setting up her teammates and stepping in to receive when needed. Her versatility and willingness to help wherever the team needed her made a big impact.
Thursday vs. Live Oak β Away
The team faced a tough match on the road and came up short in both sets. Despite the outcome, the girls continued to encourage one another and competed until the final point.
β Ariana R. deserves a special shoutout for keeping the team positive and encouraging her teammates to keep their heads up. She also showed great hustle and determination by consistently working to get to the ball.
Friday β Los Molinos Tournament π₯
The Yellowjackets finished in third place at the Los Molinos Tournament! This was a tremendous accomplishment and a strong way to finish a competitive week. π
β Ariana R. was named to the All-Tournament Team for her outstanding performance. She delivered an incredible serving performance, including nine consecutive serves in one set! π₯
β Sophia V. had a strong tournament at the net, recording great blocks and doing an excellent job playing balls off the net to keep rallies alive.
β Azaila V. showed great defensive effort with her digs. She moved her feet well and consistently communicated with her teammates by calling the ball.
π CROSS-COUNTRY β COACH WILLIS
Williams Cross-Country opened its competitive season on Saturday, August 22, at the Sierra Invitational. The meet was hosted by Whitney High School at Sierra College in Roseville. Each Williams athlete competed in a grade-level two-mile race.

Jeremiah P. (9th) earned a medal by placing 15th out of 124 runners with a time of 11:52.9.
β Lucia V.-M. (10th) placed 33rd out of 72 runners with a time of 15:17.49.
β Manny S. (11th) placed 25th out of 138 runners with a time of 11:25.71.
β Fernando C. (11th) placed 100th out of 138 runners with a time of 13:44.19.
Congratulations to Coach Willis and all our runners on a strong start to the season!

The Williams JV and varsity football teams will kick off their seasons by hosting the Willows Honkers in the I-5 Classic on Friday, August 28.
Come out and support our Yellowjackets as they begin the 2026 season at home! ππ
π GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL MAKES HISTORY
The Williams Girls Flag Football team will make Yellowjacket history when it plays its first-ever game at Wheatland on Wednesday, August 26!
We are proud of our student-athletes and coaches as they begin this exciting new chapter in Williams Athletics. πͺπ
