What do HOLD, SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE, and SHELTER mean in schools?

Beginning this school year, Wicomico County Public Schools will use the nationally recognized Standard Response Protocol (SRP), to provide clear instructions for students, staff and families during emergencies.

What You Should Know:
- Standard Response Protocol uses clear language for emergency situations
- SRP helps improve communication among schools, families, students, staff and first responders
- Students and staff will practice and learn the five response actions during the school year

A FRESH START for a Great School Year! The annual “Fresh Start: A Wicomico County Back-to-School Event” is set for Sunday, August 23rd at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This is for Wicomico County students in-need from kindergarten to Grade 12. ​Students will receive a Free backpack along with several essential school supplies. A child must be present with an adult to receive school supplies.

-Free Backpacks (Clear Backpacks available too for Wi-Hi and Wi Middle while supplies last)
-Free Essential School Supplies
-Free Haircuts
-Family Activities
-Info about the upcoming school year
-Community programming
-Health Information and more
-Free children's books

PreK Students and families participated at our Transition to PreK event. Mrs. Dutton and Mrs. Spears were excited to meet our newest dolphins. Welcome and we will see you in a few days.

PK/K Back to School letters have an error in the day and date that all students report. Schools are closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. All students will report on Tuesday, September 8th. PK/K Students will still only report on their assigned day the first week of school either September 3rd or September 4th.

Starting with the first bell on the first day of the 2026-2027 school year, students in Wicomico County Public Schools may not use personal electronic devices during the school day. This new “Bell to Bell, No Cell” rule supports a safe and effective learning environment, and meets the requirements of a new state law that will prohibit student cell phone use during school hours.
