🌱🌸 Greenhouse Sale Reminder – Don’t Miss It! 🌸🌱

It’s almost here! The Willard FFA Greenhouse Sale kicks off soon, and the greenhouse is FULL and ready for you! 👀🌼

A HUGE selection of flowers and vegetables—some varieties are limited, but there is plenty to choose from and we’ve never sold out!

✨ Southwest District FFA Day 1 Contest Results ✨

We had a great day competing at the Southwest District FFA Contests, and I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work these students have put in!

👉 Farm Management placed 8th and is headed to STATE!
👉 Dairy Cattle placed 12th and also earned a trip to STATE!
🏆 Ag Sales brought home 3rd place and is STATE BOUND!

A special congratulations to Alana Kimmons for being the 1st place individual in Ag Sales! 🥇

These contests take hours of preparation, practice, and commitment—most of it happening outside the classroom. Our students continue to represent Willard FFA at a high level, and it shows!

Our Willard FFA Chapter has had a busy and successful spring competing in a wide variety of Career and Leadership Development Events!

These students put in countless hours—most of it on their own time outside of class—developing skills in communication, problem solving, technical knowledge, and teamwork. We are proud of the effort and growth shown across all contest areas.

A quick reminder: most teams are made up of 4 members, with the top 3 scores counting toward the team total. Due to scheduling conflicts and students competing in multiple areas, we don’t always have a full team—but our students continue to show up and compete at a high level.

Here are some highlights from this season:

🔹 Ag Issues – Liam Coan, Gavin Crisler, Alana Kimmons, Adi Neal, Kaden Schell
No practice contests, but presented their issue to the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Missouri Soybean Association, and locally to the Willard Board of Aldermen and Park Board—outstanding real-world experience!

🔹 Ag Sales – Liam Coan, Alana Kimmons, Lily Porting, Caitlyn Sherman
⭐ Multiple Top Finishes: 1st at El Dorado and Marshfield
⭐ Caitlyn Sherman – multiple Top Individual finishes
⭐ Alana Kimmons – multiple Top Individual finishes
This team has been dominant all season!

Placed at both Marshfield and Crowder while competing short-handed at times.

🔹 Agronomy, Entomology, Forestry, Dairy, Livestock
These teams have competed hard across multiple contests, often with incomplete teams, continuing to build experience and improve each contest.

🔹 Horse Evaluation – Lizzie Hagston, Ali Hicks, Darley O’Connor, Addison Pierson, Bella Thatcher
⭐ Consistent improvement with a Top 10 finish at Marshfield
⭐ Darley O’Connor earning Top 10 individual finishes

🔹 Farm Business Management – Hadley Beeman, Stephanie Sims, Cora Stagner, Porter Talbot
⭐ Strong consistency across contests

We are incredibly proud of these students—not just for their results, but for the work ethic, commitment, and growth they’ve shown all season.

We’re a little late getting this posted, but we wanted to take a moment to wrap up National FFA Week at Willard!

It was a great week celebrating agricultural education, leadership, and the students that make our chapter what it is.

We kicked things off the Sunday before FFA Week with 11 members attending Cowboy Church at Sac River Cowboy Church at the Springfield Livestock Market, followed by brunch together at Cracker Barrel.

Throughout the week students participated in our dress-up days:
• Monday – Camo Day (we would share pictures… but apparently everyone’s camo was just too good because we couldn’t find anyone 👀)
• Tuesday – Jacket and Jeans Day
• Wednesday – Dress Like Your Advisors Day
• Thursday – Blue and Gold Day
• Friday – FFA T-Shirt Day

We also had several activities outside the classroom:

• Teacher Breakfast on Monday morning (bagels to start the week right)
• Co****le Tournament and Movie Night Tuesday evening

Thursday’s original plans didn’t quite go as expected, but our members made the best of it with breakfast at Billy Gail’s, a visit to Wonders of Wildlife, and a behind-the-scenes tour at Dickerson Park Zoo. A special shout-out to Dickerson Park Zoo for putting that tour together for us on such short notice — we really appreciate it!

On Friday, several members traveled to Ozarks Food Harvest, where our chapter received a Giving Tree Apple in recognition of over 1,000 volunteer hours served as a chapter. This has been a chapter goal since we first began working with OFH in 2021, and we are incredibly proud of our members for reaching that milestone.

Our members also spent time volunteering with the Think Big Foundation, helping refurbish several of their donation bins. Scraping off old decals and removing stubborn adhesive isn’t the most glamorous job, but our members didn’t shy away from the hard work and were proud to help improve something that supports a great cause.

Since 2021, Willard FFA members have made a big impact through our partnership with Ozarks Food Harvest:

• 74 students and 4 staff/student teachers have participated
• 32 volunteer sessions completed
• 341 total volunteer registrations
• 191,610 pounds of food sorted
• 1,955 senior boxes packed
• 1,020 weekend backpack meals built
• 256,515 total pounds of food processed
• 215,208 meals provided

We wrapped up the week Saturday with a trip to Dogwood Canyon, which was a great way to finish out a busy and meaningful week.

FFA Week is always a reminder that agricultural education is about more than the classroom — it’s about leadership, community, and service. Our members truly live out the FFA motto every year: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.

The State FFA Degree recognizes years of dedication through Supervised Agricultural Experiences, leadership development, community service, and commitment to agricultural education. This achievement represents countless hours of hard work and passion for the FFA mission.

They will be officially recognized at the Missouri State FFA Convention, April 15–17 in Columbia, Missouri.

We are incredibly proud of these students and the example they set for our chapter. 💙🐯💛
