I would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to go out and vote yesterday. Participating in our elections is one of the most important ways we support our communities and our future.

I especially want to say thank you to everyone who cast their vote for me. I am truly honored and humbled by the trust and support you have placed in me.

My commitment has always been to do what is best for all the children of Wilkes County, helping ensure they are prepared for bright and successful futures. I am equally committed to supporting the dedicated teachers, staff, and employees of Wilkes County Schools who work every day to make that possible.

Thank you again for your encouragement, your confidence, and your support. I am grateful and look forward to continuing to serve our community.

Due to the events of last week, I will not be posting anything further prior to the upcoming election.

Right now is not a time for politics, it is a time for prayer, reflection, and support.

Please join me in praying for all the families involved, and for the administrators, teachers, students, and friends who are walking through this difficult time. Our schools and our communities need compassion, strength, and unity.

Tonight our hearts are heavy in Wilkes County.

We lift up our Wilkes County Schools family, every student, every teacher, every staff member, and every parent who is hurting right now. In moments of tragedy, words never seem like enough. But prayer is powerful, and faith is what carries us when we don’t have the strength to carry ourselves.

We especially surround the Mark Byrd family with love and prayer during this devastating loss. There are no easy answers, no quick fixes for this kind of pain — only the steady presence of God, the comfort of community, and the promise that we don’t walk through grief alone.

If you’re reading this tonight, please take a moment to pray:
• For peace that passes understanding
• For comfort in the darkest hours
• For strength for our schools and families
• For unity as a community

Wilkes County is strong because our people are strong. We show up for one another. We pray for one another. We carry one another.

Lord, wrap Your arms around this community. Bring healing where there is heartbreak. Bring light where there is darkness. And remind us that even in tragedy, You are near.

We were honored to attend today’s ribbon-cutting for the all-inclusive playground at Mount Pleasant Elementary School, hosted by the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce.

As Chairman of the Wilkes County Board of Education, it is incredibly rewarding to see this kind of growth and investment in our schools. Projects like this reflect a strong commitment to every child, creating spaces where all students can play, learn, and feel included.

We are grateful for the collaboration and vision that make opportunities like this possible, and we look forward to continuing to support initiatives that benefit both our students and our dedicated teachers.

Thanks for all that came out tonight for my swearing in ceremony. I appreciate the opportunity God has gave me to serve the students, teachers, custodians, cafeteria workers and all employees of Wilkes Co Board of Education. Also thanks to the board for voting me in for chair again this year.
