Title I held a Reading and Math Literacy breakfast with Santa on December 11th at the Jr/Sr High School. Students and their families participated in reading and math activities, enjoyed a delicious breakfast, and had a special visit from Santa.
This was a great way to enjoy the holiday season. Thank you to all who participated. It was a great morning!

Students Earn Safety Certificates….
Students in Mr. Pientka’s Manufacturing classes are earning more than the knowledge is passing along. These students have earned certificates of ladder safety, building knowledge of safe work practices, meanwhile creating workforce ready candidates. Each certificate builds our student body’s marketability to obtain gainful employment. HASD is proud to be building stronger resumes for all Hawkeyes! A special thank you to Mr. Pientka for going above & beyond!! You rock!! 💪💙

Pajama Day was a Success!!
Our community rocks! We raised over $1,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) & we were comfy & cozy while doing so. Thank you to all who helped us reach out goal of $750.00 & beyond!! These dollars help fund research for children with chronic or terminal illnesses. You are all amazing!!! 💪💙❤️

Celebrating Lisa Kitchen!!
The Hanover Area School District Board of Education, administration, teachers & staff, both past & present, recognized the 30-year career of the HASD’s most LOVED employee.
Lisa Kitchen has spent her entire life involved with the Hanover Area school district. Graduating from our Jr./Sr. High, Mrs. Kitchen then became a long-standing employee until her official retirement at the end of this calendar year.
Lisa’s kindness & her overwhelming caring character has always created a “home” for anyone in need. Being the Superintendent’s administrative assistant has created a very welcoming experience for most. Her warmth & compassion is even felt by our therapy dog, “Barney.” His favorite place is Lisa’s office & lying at her feet.
As a school district, our goal is to help build a society with kindness & care, just like Lisa Kitchen. As a result, our administration & Board of Education have officially named our new program of independent living….. Lisa’s Kitchen! We surprised her & her family last night with the unveiling during our December Board Meeting.
We THANK YOU Lisa Kitchen for your 30 years of service but most importantly….. your KINDNESS!! 💪💙❤️

Field Trip!!!
Recently, students from our Life Skills classroom used the world as their classroom. Our Hawkeyes had the opportunity to learn how to use public transportation, community safety, and shopping skills at the Farmer's Market/Dollar Tree! Our kiddos did a wonderful job & we’re all so PROUD! 💪💙

Happy Veteran’s Day!!
The HASD had several events honoring all that serves! However, Memorial elementary takes the cake!! Principal Langdon hosted an amazing program honoring veterans from all branches of the military. In addition, a memorial wall was built of student & staff family members who served this wonderful country. Congratulations to all veterans who were honored & we THANK YOU for your service! 💪💙🇺🇸🪖

Role Model…..
During the Halloween season, Memorial elementary had costume events, leading Leland Hughes to dress up like “Officer Mike.” Leland is a fourth grade student who aspires to be in the military and/or law enforcement….. creating his daily visits to ”Officer Mike.”
Our school police officer Mike F. embraces Leland’s visits & we are so proud that our officers are making such a positive impact on our students. 💪💙

Career Education Recognition:
Due to the robust career education offerings at our district, members of our faculty were asked to teach a seminar on how we synthesized career educational opportunities through community partnerships, local industry & post secondary institutions. Proudly, Superintendent Nathan Barrett, Principal Ann Marie Mantione & Guidance counselor Nicole Hummer presented the district’s “footprint” that has more-than-doubled our districts enrollment in career education at our local CTC, career education dual enrollment in a post-secondary institution earning industry certificates upon graduation & all FREE due to community business partnerships and educational tax credits. We are very proud to have exhibited this model of educational programming to the rest of Pennsylvania schools. Our students have a model program! 💪💙

Motivational Monday:
Our cheerleading team made it Nationals!! Due to hard work & tenacity this weekend in Pittsburgh, our girls placed third & will be moving on to compete in Florida!! Their motivation is our kickstart to a strong week! Congratulations team & we will be supporting you all the way!!💪💙📣
