Song leadership is a work that requires both passion and preparation. We recognize the desire to guide congregations in meaningful worship, and understand the need for solid musical and leadership foundations.
Since 1984, the R.J. Stevens Singing School has provided structured training to individuals of all experience levels. We continue this legacy, offering a week-long intensive focused on developing effective song worship leaders.
This course is designed for those committed to personal growth and serving their congregations with excellence.
Through this program, you will acquire:
Fundamental Musical Literacy: A working knowledge of rhythm, pitch, time, and key signatures.
Practical Leadership Skills: Techniques for clear beat patterns, accurate pitching, and engaging communication.
Enhanced Sight-Reading Abilities: Proficiency in navigating unfamiliar songs using Shape Notes and structured exercises.
Improved Vocal Technique: Daily warm-ups and strategies for vocal quality and projection.
Meaningful Song Interpretation: Understanding and conveying the spiritual essence of each song.
Effective Service Planning: Creating worship sets that encourage congregational participation.
Expanded Repertoire: Learning new songs and methods for teaching them.
Each student will have the opportunity to apply these skills through nightly song leading practice.
We have observed countless individuals transform into confident and capable song worship leaders through the methods developed by R.J. Stevens and continued by our experienced instructors. Your congregation will benefit significantly from your dedication to improving your leadership.
In addition, we offer family-friendly classes, including Sight Singing, Hymn Writing, and sessions for ladies led by Glenda Schales.
