Meet D'Andra Austin! She sent career counselor Jennifer Watkins this message,
"My name is D’Andra Austin, and I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to Choctaw Nation Career Development’s career counselor Jennifer Watkins and Chief Batton for the unwavering support throughout my nursing journey.
With help from Career Development and Higher education, I began nursing school in 2012 and graduated in 2014, ready to step into the calling I had always felt drawn to. I started my career in Labor & Delivery, where I quickly discovered my true passion — caring for moms and welcoming new life into the world. My love for babies and the miracle of birth has been the heartbeat of my nursing career ever since.
With continued encouragement and support, I pursued my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and ultimately completed my Master of Science in Nursing Leadership in May 2025.
This journey has not been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding — made possible by the people who believed in me, pushed me, and poured into my growth. Choctaw Nation thank you for supporting your tribal members. "

The upcoming Oklahoma Nursing Convention in Norman is an incredible opportunity for our students to learn, network, and grow as future nurses. However, the convention fee has recently increased for students from $75 to $120.
