Our Homecoming Giving Challenge standings are shifting, and every gift has the power to change the leaderboard. Whether you’re repping your favorite decade, Greek organization, athletic team or alumni chapter, there’s still time to make your mark.

Decades: The 1980s are holding down first place, followed by the 1960s, with the 1970s coming in hot!

Class years: The Class of 1966 leads the pack, with 1982 in second and 1968 in third. Is your class ready to make a move?

Greek organizations: The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are running the yard in first place, with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. close behind. The men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. are currently tied in third!

Alumni chapters: Columbus, Ohio, is claiming the top spot, Dayton is close behind, and Cleveland is making its presence known in third. Which city will take the lead next?

Athletics: Track and Field is setting the pace, followed by Men’s Basketball and Cheerleading. Marauders, show up for your sport!

As Central State University prepares to crown its next Mister and Miss Central State during this year’s Homecoming celebration, we’re taking a look at how the incoming Royal Court spent the summer — and how those experiences are shaping the legacy they hope to build during their reign.

Mister Central State Nasaan Jackson and Miss Central State Asia Brown returned to Central State University with a collection of honors and a renewed sense of purpose after representing the university at the 24th Annual HBCU Kings & Queens Conference, held July 16-19 in New Orleans.

The four-day conference brought together more than 400 student leaders representing 57 historically Black colleges and universities from across the United States for leadership development, networking, professional growth and celebration.

For Central State, the trip marked a milestone. Jackson and Brown became the first Central State Royal Court to earn awards at the conference, receiving the Perseverance Award, Best King Photo Award and the King’s Suite Dreams Crown. They also placed third in the Suite Dreams fundraiser and received nominations for Most Impressive Onsite Intro and Best Advisor of the Year, recognizing their adviser, Talisa Boswell, director of Marauder Leadership and Engagement.

The Homecoming giving competition is heating up, Centralians! Here’s who’s leading the way:

Dr. Stanley K. Holloway is a music educator, conductor, clinician, arranger, and higher education professional with more than 15 years of experience in music education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Florida A&M University, a Bachelor of Science in Music Production from Full Sail University, and both the Master of Music Education and Doctor of Music Education from Liberty University.

Dr. Holloway has served in leadership roles at the secondary and collegiate levels, including appointments at Edward Waters University and Wiley University, where he most recently served as Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music. His professional and scholarly interests include culturally responsive pedagogy, instrumental music education, HBCU band traditions, student motivation, marching band pedagogy, and higher education leadership.

Dr. Holloway maintains affiliations with several professional, social, and honorary organizations, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Free & Accepted Masons P.H.A. and other auxiliaries.

Join us Tuesday, Oct. 6, for the Central State University Convocation Series featuring Dr. Sharita Warfield, founder and wellness transformation coach of Warfield Medical Coaching & Consulting, LLC, and Jeffrey Southall II, recruitment specialist for Omaha Public Schools.

A board-certified physician, wellness leader and TEDx speaker, Dr. Warfield has dedicated more than 30 years to medicine and leadership. Her journey began right here at Central State, where her experiences helped affirm her calling to medicine.

Southall, a first-generation college graduate and proud Centralian, has built a career centered on education, leadership and service. His work reflects his passion for mentorship and empowering the next generation to dream boldly, lead with purpose and serve with heart.

Trevon D. Edwards is an emerging leader whose work across public service, nonprofit leadership, higher education and civic engagement is rooted in one commitment: creating opportunities that strengthen communities.

Currently serving as a Graduate Assistant for Community Impact and Strategic Partnerships at Cleveland State University, Trevon connects students, institutions and community organizations to advance meaningful impact.

As Chair of the Central State University Cleveland Alumni Chapter Scholarship Committee, Trevon is also investing directly in the next generation of Centralians. He remains committed to representing CSU’s values of service, leadership, and excellence in every space he enters.

His leadership extends throughout Northeast Ohio through civic and nonprofit service, as a Board Member of the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, where he chairs the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Committee.
