Students practiced sterile technique by “transplanting a kidney”, then suturing the incision closed. This lab challenged them to slow down, maintain a sterile field, think through multiple steps and problem-solve like a surgical team. Such a fun way to put their skills into practice!

A huge thank you to Barbara Johnson and our very own Health Science alumni, Emily Smith, from Pafford Emergency Medical Services for spending time with our students today! They shared tons of great information about working in EMS, gave us a firsthand look at intubation and IV insertion and even let our students tour the ambulance.

We’re so thankful for community professionals who take the time to give our students real world exposure to careers in healthcare!

Our students gained valuable hands-on knowledge about wound packing, tourniquets, and how to respond in an emergency. We are so thankful for community professionals who take the time to help prepare our students for real world situations!

Huge thank you to Sergeant M. McClantoc with the Wiggins Police Department for spending time with our Health Science II students and presenting an important Stop the Bleed training!

We wrapped up our unit on communication and teamwork with some fun challenges that put our problem-solving skills to the test!

Students worked together to untangle the Human Knot, competed to build the tallest tower in the Marshmallow Challenge, and finished it off by working as a team to solve an Escape Room.

Lots of laughs, a little frustration, but most importantly, a whole lot of TEAMWORK!
