🧀🌮 Learning was extra cheesy in 2nd grade! 🌮🧀

Our second-grade math classes celebrated National Quesadilla Day with a fun mix of culture, food, and math! 💙

Students had the opportunity to taste both corn and flour tortillas while learning about their cultural origins and traditions. Then, they put their math skills to work by creating their very own “Fact Family Quesadillas!” Students built fact families by adding their “cheese” to their quesadillas—making math both hands-on and deliciously fun! 🧀➕✏️

We love seeing our Tomcats make meaningful connections while learning! 🐾💙

🍎🍏 Johnny Appleseed Week in Kindergarten! 🍏🍎
Mrs. Miles & Ms. Kyleigh’s kindergarten class had an apple-solutely amazing time celebrating Johnny Appleseed Week! ❤️🍎
Our little learners enjoyed apple pie ice cream, tasted different varieties of apples, and completed a hands-on Apple Investigation! 🔎🍏 We graphed our class’s favorite apples, tested whether apples sink or float, studied the parts of an apple, and learned all about the apple life cycle. 🌱➡️🌳➡️🍎
Of course, we had to add a little extra sweetness! 😋 The students sampled apples with fun toppings like caramel sauce, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and sprinkles. 🍫✨
It was a week full of learning, investigating, tasting, and lots of kindergarten fun! 🍎❤️ We loved making sweet memories while learning all about apples!

Get ready to blast off into a world of reading! Our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair theme is "That's Out of This World!" and we cannot wait to share it with your children. Here are some updates/changes due to Benchmark Testing:

The in-school Book Fair will run from Monday, September 28, 2026, through Friday, October 2, 2026. We also have a special lineup of community events that we would love for you to attend:

* Monday, September 28: Book fair hours 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM
* Tuesday, September 29: Book fair hours 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
* Wednesday, September 30: Pastries with Parents 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
* Thursday, October 1: Goodies with Grands 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM **5th grade can go after they complete testing at 10:00 am**
* Friday, October 2: 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Can't make it in person? No problem! Our Online Book Fair is open from September 28 through October 11, 2026. You can explore thousands of affordable books for every reading level directly from home.

To make shopping easier and safer for your student, we highly encourage setting up a Scholastic eWallet—a secure, cash-free digital payment option. You can also contribute to your child's classroom eWallet to help teachers stock up on new books.

🥛🐄 WORLD SCHOOL MILK DAY! 🐄🥛

We’re celebrating World School Milk Day at Stone Elementary on Wednesday, September 30! 💙🤍

To join in the fun, students may dress like a COW 🐄 or a FARMER 👨‍🌾👩‍🌾 for the day!

Grab your overalls, boots, flannel, or cow spots and help us celebrate the importance of milk in a fun way! 🥛🌾

We can’t wait to see our little Tomcats dressed for the farm! 💙🐾

During Johnny Appleseed Week, Mrs. Cowart and Ms. Naomi's classroom was buzzing with fall fun! We learned all about the parts of an apple, voted on whether red or green apples taste the best, and treated ourselves to yummy apple pie in a cup. Our favorite part? Making an apple volcano fizz and bubble during science time! 🍎🍏

🤠⭐ OUR SRO IS FULL OF TALENT! ⭐🤠

Last week, Officer James traded in his badge for a lesson on school bus safety 🚌🚦 and spent some special time teaching our kindergarten students how to stay safe on and around the bus.

This week, he switched gears and went COWBOY! 🐴🤠

To go along with our story of the week, officer James stopped by with some cowboy props and a little firsthand knowledge to share with our kiddos. They loved getting an up-close look, asking questions, and learning a little more about the cowboy way of life! 🌵🐎

And of course, we can’t forget the star of the show — his trusty horse, who was affectionately named “Pawpaw” for the day! 🐴😂❤️ Pawpaw definitely helped bring our cowboy story to life and was a big hit with our little cowboys and cowgirls!

We are so thankful for an SRO who does so much more than help keep our school safe. Whether he’s teaching bus safety, sharing a special talent, or simply spending time with our students, he always finds a way to make learning fun and memorable! ❤️

From 🚌 bus safety to 🤠 cowboy day (with a little help from Pawpaw 🐴)… we’re starting to wonder what talent he’ll pull out of his hat next! Huge shout out to Officer James! 😂⭐

🔵⚪️ DOT DAY CHAMPIONS! ⚪️🔵

The results are in, and SES came out on TOP! 🏆🐾

Our Tomcats collected an incredible 3,248 CANS during our Dot Day Food Drive! 🥫👏 And yes… that means we officially BEAT PERK! 😏💙

A HUGE thank you to our students, families, and staff for showing up and showing out for a great cause. We love a little friendly competition, but we love seeing our Tomcat community give back even more! 💙

Sorry, Perk… maybe next year! 😉🐾
