Please welcome new Assistant Professor of Technical Theatre, Bryce Bassett!

Bryce is thrilled to join Friends University as Assistant Professor of Technical Theatre and is excited to return to his passion for educational theatre. A Wichita native who recently returned to the area, he brings nearly 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry and a passion for mentoring the next generation of theatre artists.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a Technical Design emphasis from Sterling College and a Master of Fine Arts in Stage Design with a Lighting Design concentration from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Throughout his career, Bryce has designed lighting, scenery, and audio for theatre, musicals, opera, dance, churches, immersive experiences, concerts, weddings, and special events. His work spans educational, community, and professional theatre, providing him with a diverse perspective on technical production and storytelling.

Outside of the theatre, Bryce is also a graduate of the International University of Santa Claus and has portrayed Santa professionally for the past decade. When he's not designing productions or working with students, he enjoys baking and smoking barbecue.
