📚💚 Our 1st graders had a very special learning experience today as they continued celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!

Students read My Shoes and I, a powerful story about a young boy who travels from El Salvador to the United States to reunite with his mom. The story shares his journey across three countries and the challenges and experiences he faced along the way.

Today, the story came to life when our students welcomed a very special guest speaker who personally experienced this journey. He shared his own story and experiences with our students, giving them a meaningful connection to what they had read in the book. 🇸🇻🇺🇸

A huge thank you to Ms. Bárcenas’ dad for taking the time to share his personal journey and experiences with our students. What an incredible opportunity for our students to learn, listen, and build understanding through someone’s lived experience! 💚🤍📖

Our kindergarten families had a fantastic time learning together with apple-themed activities in reading and math! 📚➕🍎 Students and families enjoyed taste-testing different kinds of apples and, of course, ending the night with some delicious apple pie! 🥧🍎

What a fun evening of learning, laughter, and family time! We are so thankful for all of our Jefferson families who came out to join us! 💚🤍🍎
