Today was the perfect way to kick off a brand-new school year! 🖤💛

We started the morning by gathering for our very first Mayberry all-staff photo, then loaded the buses and headed to the Wichita Public Schools Rally! 🚌

We laughed, reflected, and left inspired as Gerry Brooks shared encouragement, humor, and practical reminders to carry with us into the new school year.

There is something special about seeing our entire district come together with one shared purpose—supporting students and making a difference every single day. The energy, excitement, and sense of unity were exactly what we needed as we prepare to welcome our Panthers back next week.

Here’s to a year of building relationships, celebrating our unique talents, and living out our Mayberry motto:

🎷🎉 BIG NEWS FOR MAYBERRY PANTHER BANDS! 🎉🎷

Congratulations to our Big Band Jazz on being selected to perform at the 2027 KMEA Convention! 🖤💛

This incredible honor came after the band submitted a recording last spring and advanced through a blind audition process, where selections were made solely on the quality of the performance. Their hard work, musicianship, and dedication truly paid off!

A special congratulations goes to the 2025–2026 Midnight Blues. It was your audition recording that earned this invitation to perform on one of the biggest stages in Kansas music education. Your legacy will forever be a part of Mayberry history.

It’s amazing to think that our jazz program began during the 2020–2021 school year as a fully remote experience. It became an official class in 2021–2022, and just seven years later, Mayberry has earned the opportunity to perform at the state convention. Every student, director, and supporter who has been part of this program has helped build this legacy. This accomplishment belongs to all of you.

Now it’s time to look ahead…

We can’t wait to see what our 2026–2027 Big Band Jazz accomplishes this year. The sky is truly the limit!
