WEST WICHITA GEAR UP
Helping 3rd-Year College Students Stay Focused and Future-Ready
Dear Gear Up Scholars,
Junior year can feel like a long stretch. Youāve gotten through the early challenges of college, but the finish line still feels distant. You might be balancing school, work, and life responsibilities while trying to stay motivated and on track.
This monthās theme is: āStaying Motivated During the Long Haul.ā We want to encourage you to stay focused, take care of yourself, and keep moving forward.
Five Ways to Stay Motivated During Your Third Year
1. Reconnect With Your Why
Think about what brought you to college in the first place. Whether itās your family, career goals, financial freedom, or personal growthāyour reason still matters. Write it down and reflect on it when motivation dips.
2. Celebrate Progress, Not Just Perfection
You donāt have to wait for graduation to feel proud. Give yourself credit for finishing a hard class, improving your study habits, or simply showing up. Recognize the progress youāre making every week.
3. Build a Circle That Builds You
Who you spend time with matters. Surround yourself with people who want to grow, support your goals, and push you to do your best. That includes peers, professors, mentorsāand your Gear Up team.
4. Refresh Your Routine
If you feel stuck or burned out, try adjusting your daily habits. Change where you study, how you manage your time, or when you take breaks. Even small changes can improve your focus and energy.
5. Visualize the Finish Line
Picture yourself on graduation day. How will it feel? What opportunities will be available to you? Keeping that future in mind can help you stay grounded when things get tough.
Final Thought
Staying motivated isnāt about always feeling inspiredāitās about showing up and doing your best, even when itās hard. Progress happens day by day. Donāt lose sight of how far youāve come.
Need Support or Just Want to Talk?
Weāre here for you.
