I know the elections are upon us, and with that, there needs to be a lot of discernment. For me personally, if a candidate’s political positions are not in alignment with God and His Word, I will not be /voting for them. I realize that in today’s world, it can be difficult—if not impossible—to find a candidate who lines up perfectly with everything I believe Scripture teaches. But I do believe there are some things that are non-negotiable for me. I also believe it’s important to understand the faith and values that influenced our nation’s founding. Many of our Founders openly recognized the importance of faith, morality, and religion to a free society. I would love to see us move closer to those foundational principles again—but I believe that starts with each of us individually. For me, that means doing my best to honor God every time I vote. And part of honoring Him is being informed. I think www.ivoterguide.com VoterGuide is a good place to start when researching candidates and their positions. It provides research, questionnaires, voting records, and /other information, but even they encourage voters to look beyond a rating and examine the facts for themselves. Ultimately, I want to think for myself, pray for wisdom, and make decisions based on truth and facts—not simply emotions. Emotions can be /powerful, but they can also deceive us and lead us in the wrong direction.
I certainly don’t claim to have all the answers, and I know others may see things differently than I do. But I want to be intentional about seeking God’s wisdom and doing my best to honor Him with the responsibility He has given me.
