Did you know that the pyramids of Teotihuacán were already an ancient, abandoned mystery by the time the Aztecs found them in the 14th century? In fact, Teotihuacán is an Aztec (Nahuatl) name meaning "the place where the gods were created"—they were so awestruck by its scale that they believed it had divine origins.

At its peak around 400 CE, this was one of the largest cities in the world, home to an estimated 200,000 people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Walking down the Calzada de los Mu***os (Avenue of the Dead) between the massive Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon gives you a whole new perspective on the ancient worlds and vibrant cultures that shaped our history.
