RME 5th graders went on a tour of AMS! We toured the building, had a presentation and Q & A in the library, and had some former students do a panel discussion for us! Tonight, is the parent orientation at AMS at 6:00.

Last Friday, the Andover elementary counselors held the annual Career on Wheels Day at 13th Street Park. It was great seeing all the different careers represented. Thank you, parents, that volunteered. The kids really enjoyed learning about so many different careers!

3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been exploring careers during our counseling classes. Last week we discussed Agricultural Sciences and this week was Business Sciences. 5th grade has done an interest profile that will lead toward researching about their favorite careers.

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes learned about having a Growth Mindset. Take time to visit with your child about how a growth mindset can help them in academics, activities, and sports.

5th graders learned a little about Andover Middle School and started pre-enrollment. They logged into PowerSchool to register for classes and also connected to the Class of 2031 Google Classroom!

It was great to build beds with Sleep In Heavenly Peace - KS, Sedgwick Co. I especially loved seeing some of the Student Council members join us. You can still help by sending in sheets, comforters, and the like for twin beds for or bedding drive.

Kindness Week has started! Be on the lookout for this Great Kindness Challenge sheet to come home. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will receive one during their counselor class time this week.

We finished up National School Counselor Week by providing the students some outside play and the teachers a little break. The students had a great time!

Tomorrow’s theme is “We Can Work It Out” by the Beatles. School counselors help students work out problems and conflicts together. Wear a shirt that promotes friendship or fun on Wednesday.
