- January has been a busy month. Jan. 20-22 twenty-two students participated in the 30th Annual KSU Concert Vand Clinic. Six of our students earned spots in the top band and Jonah Easterby earn a scholarship towards the KSU Summer Band Camp.
- January 26th the Wind Ensemble traveled to both middle schools on a recruiting trip. They played several pep band songs and answered questions the 8th graders had about Band and Campus in general.
- We are looking for 6-8 parents to work concessions on February 3rd. If you’re able to help out, please email Miss Hughes at [email protected].

I’m really proud of our kids. 19 years of a First Division Rating. (Shhhh - they don’t know yet).

09/10/2022

After a long day yesterday, seven of our Campus C**ts finally made it to Manhattan for a 3-hour rehearsal with other band members from across Kansas to prepare for half-time for this afternoon with the KSUMB. On a cold, rainy afternoon, after an hour weather delay, it was finally halftime. Our Campus C**ts performed extremely well and were outstanding ambassadors for Campus and Haysville

First full week is in the books!
- We will have a Band Booster meeting this Tuesday, August 30th at 7pm in the Band Room. We will be looking help in four main areas: putting Drum Major ladders out at games; coordinating parents to work at concessions for football; coordinating parents to work at basketball games; Dinner Concert donations coordinator. Students whose parents attend this meeting will receive a “coveted homework pass”.
- We are in need of 3-4 more parents to be sponsors for our State Fair trip on 9/12. We’ll leave before school starts and be back by 2:30. Sponsors ride the buses with the students, help with water & tickets and eat lots of Fair food, ride rides and, well, we know what happens with that combination. 😂
****MANY students have not turned in their supply order form (44) or their Medical form (25). Students received these on the first day of Band and they were due this past Tuesday. Please help a band director out and ask your students about these papers. Many thanks!
- An updated schedule is below and next week students will receive a schedule for the Fair and Homecoming Parade (9/30). The schedule will also be posted in GC.

08/12/2022

Upcoming dates. We will go over these in class often as a reminder.

We had a great 2nd day of Band Camp. Today was the first day for Freshmen and they’re playing really well already. We can’t wait to see the upperclassmen tomorrow!!

- I've just sent out a link to all students regarding free lunches at school Tues. - Thurs. I would like all new members and section leaders who attend Band Camp on Tues. to eat together at Campus. Wed. & Thurs. are optional and still free. Students should complete the Google Form to indicate which days they will be eating at Campus so that I can let the kitchen ladies know.
- It's VERY important that students bring a water bottle or thermos with non-sugary drinks next week. We have a water bottle filler in our room and in the Choir Room.
- Sunscreen and cool clothing are highly suggested for the mornings. We will only be outside in the mornings. If/when the heat index hits 96 we will go inside.
- Friday morning we will meet at C**t Stadium for the morning rehearsal. Each section will make plans on their lunch time for Friday.
- Parents, if you haven't signed up for Google Classroom or Remind yet, the information is on the Band Camp letter that went home in May.
- We are looking for family members who are able to hem/let hems out of uniforms (mostly the pants). The uniforms will be available to take home for work on them after pictures on August 20th. We won't need them back until September 5th. If would like to help us out please email me ([email protected]).

Happy Wednesday!

I've just sent out a mass email in an effort to get students up to date in Remind and Google Classroom and to make sure they've filled out any forms I've posted. If Band Parents would please (strongly - lol) encourage your students to check their email and Google Classroom I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Just a few reminders:
- Please scroll back to the June 7th post for the Band Camp schedule as well as the calendar for the year.
- All students should enroll in Remind and Google Classroom as soon as possible.
- Parents may enroll in both Remind & GC, but PLEASE make sure you sign up in the parent section of Remind, it is NOT the same code as the one for students.
- A PRE-order form has been posted in GC and should be completed by students as soon as possible. Parents are also able to pre-order Band t-shirts and windbreakers. The link is in GC.
- If you have any questions please email Miss Hughes at [email protected]

07/03/2022

Music for this fall has been posted in GC. Students will also receive copies at Band Camp. Parental Units: if your kids tell you they're bored or have nothing to do, please direct them to the music in GC! The code for GC and Remind were sent in the Band Camp letter families should have received at the end of May. If you did not receive the letter or need the information again, please email me at [email protected].

- Students will be able to eat free during Band Camp 7/26-7/28. All freshmen, percussion and section leaders will eat (free) at Campus on 7/26 and the 27th & 28th is option but the cafeteria ladies need a lunch count now so they can order appropriately. This link is also in Remind and on Google Classroom: https://forms.gle/fBxSxPwq9EbQcz2Q9
- Later this week I will be posting a supplies pre-order form so that we can be sure to have the correct number of items for each student. Parents may also pre-order t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, window clings, head band and bags.
- All NEW students are required to order shorts, t-shirts, polos, gloves, shoes, dry cleaning and items specific to their instrument (lyre, reeds, etc.). Returning students are required to order dry cleaning and any items they may have lost, outgrown or need new. The Google Form that will be posted later this week is NOT the final order form, students will receive the official order form on the first day of class in August and money will not be due until the end of September.
- Below are pictures of the Band Camp schedule. Included on the second page are the dates of required first semester performances. PLEASE check all of the dates and should there be any conflicts email Miss Hughes ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
- Also pictured is the calendar for the entire year. Students will receive a copy of this on the first day of Band in August and they may take extra copies for multiple-house families and their jobs.
