𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭

Our fifth grade students, along with help from parents Erin Hughes & Mike Holtz, created a bin to collect pull tabs for our local Ronald McDonald House here in Wichita.

Each 5th grader painted a shingle on the top of the house with their own design. The bin will be displayed in the front lobby for Wheatland students to use for many years to come!

Thank you, fifth graders! Good luck in middle school, we will miss you! 💛💙

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙥 𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙯 𝘽𝙤𝙬𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨

Congratulations to the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl Teams at Cottonwood, Meadowlark, Prairie Creek, Robert Martin, Sunflower, and Wheatland, for representing the district well in the Andover 5th Grade Spring America Answers Contest!

There were 62 fifth-grade teams competing in the Nationwide 5th Grade Spring America Answers Contest. The quiz is a self-scoring, computer contest of 100 multiple-choice questions. Topic areas covered include math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general information and just plain fun trivia. Points are awarded based on speed and accuracy. Teams get two chances for each question to answer correctly. No adult assistance is allowed. This year the first, second and third place teams will receive a school trophy.

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 took first place in the Andover district with 920 points (81% accuracy) and 5th place in the Nationwide Contest in the 5th grade division. Wheatland Elementary Quiz Bowl Team members were: Mandira A., Colton B., Owen C., Lucas F., Jack G., Hudson P., Maitlin P., Rayansh S., Seth T, and Grant Y.

The sponsors for the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl teams were the Extended Learning Program Teachers, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. McClellan.
