Throwback Thursday š¹
18 years ago, after relocating our business from the Phoenix area to Kansas, this was the very first piano restoration we completed here in Kansas.
Weāre grateful for every instrument and every client who has trusted us with their pianos over the years.
(Weāre also thankful for how much picture quality has improved in those 18 yearsš

At Wichita Piano, we hold our technicians to high standards.
Until they pass the Piano Technicians Guild's rigorous exam and earn the title of Registered Piano Technician (RPT), they are considered apprentices ā still skilled professionals who have completed extensive hands-on training.
When you schedule with one of our apprentices, youāre receiving quality service at a reduced rate backed up by our Registered Technicians ā and youāre also giving them the opportunity to continue refining their craft in real homes, on real pianos.
Thank you for helping us in mentoring the next generation of piano technicians and strengthening the future of piano service in our community. š¹

A Great Read - Will Perkins is an exceptionally skilled technician, a valued colleague, and a personal friend. With his permission, Iām excited to share his post.
-Gary Telleen
Before I ever touched a clientās piano, I spent two years and over 3,000 hours getting real, hands-on training. I was taught by master technicians at the bench, every day, on real instruments with real problems. And even after all that, I still didn't feel ready!
What surprises people is that not everyone in this field goes through anything close to that.
Because the title āpiano tunerā or "piano technician" isnāt regulated, many people start advertising services after completing a short online course. Sometimes just a few dozen hours of videos and reading material, with little-to-none hands-on experience.
While everyoneās path is different, Iāve always believed that pianos deserve more than a quick introduction. Furthermore, I believe that piano owners deserve to have world-class work done on their piano, whether it is a Kimball Spinet or a Bosendorfer Grand.
My goal is to provide work that is reliable, musical, and rooted in real craftsmanship. I believe that the pinnacle of piano work isn't just tuning, regulating, or voicing - it's informed decision-making: knowing when and how to apply those technical skills correctly. Thatās what I was trained to do, and itās what I strive to deliver every time.
