Yesterday, Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi joined Del Mar College in celebrating the achievements of 40 students completing the 2026 Texas Pre-freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP). Participants demonstrated skills in coding, engineering design, research and problem-solving through hands-on competitions and projects developed during the six-week program.

As the lead sponsor of TexPREP for 14 years, Flint Hills Resources is proud to partner with Del Mar College to help inspire the next generation of STEM leaders right here in the Coastal Bend.

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting a great group of people for a public tour of the Pine Bend refinery. It is always fun to share what we do and how we do it with neighbors and people who are interested in our operations. We even had a couple of retirees join us which was a real treat. Exciting new addition to the decades old Grand Old Day is the Future Innovators Zone! We were thrilled to be a part of this area where kids and families learned that STEM can be fun and tasty. Our engineers demonstrated how to make ice cream at home and how science plays a big part of one of our favorite treats! 🍦

This week our teams had the opportunity to gather at the Tandem Global conference (formerly Wildlife Habitat Council) to accept awards for Gold Certification at the Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend refinery and the Cottage Grove, MN terminal site. (Our refineries in Corpus Christi, TX are also gold certified!) We were also honored with the Grasslands Project Award for Pine Bend. A great gathering of people who understand that business and nature do in fact work together.

Flint Hills Resources is thrilled to be this year’s sponsor of the Grand Old Day parade. Flint Hills employees, families and friends will be showing their Saint Paul pride as they hand out giveaways alongside one of the Pine Bend refinery’s fire trucks. New this year, our engineers will demonstrate how science is really fun (and tasty) at the Future Innovators Zone. Kids can learn how to make their very own ice cream at home.
