Last week third grade was learning about how members of our local community work together for the common good. We welcomed firefighters, who spoke about 9/11 and the important ways they serve our community. We also had police officers visit to explain their roles and how they help keep our community safe.

During the officer’s visit, students practiced identifying the main idea and supporting details by completing a graphic organizer based on what he shared. You can see their work in one of the photos!

In addition to the WPS bond proposal, the district has a five-year Capital Improvement Plan to address ongoing facility needs at all schools. If the 2026 Wichita Public Schools bond passes, capital funds would be used at White Elementary School to optimize HVAC throughout the building, replace a chiller, and improve playground drainage over the next five years. Without the bond, these projects may take more than five years to complete. Learn how this bond will impact all WPS buildings at wpsbond.org.
