On September 19, 2023, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School received notification that one of our seniors was named a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
On behalf of the Bishop Carroll Catholic High School community, we would like to congratulate Peter Cook for being named National Merit Commended Scholar.
Peter is the son of Jude and Barb Cook. They are members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Today the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalist in the 69th annual national Merit Scholarship Program were announced by officials of the National Merit Corporation.
This nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of US high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 7140 National Merit Scholarships, worth nearly 28 million dollars, that will be offered next spring. The following student will continue his process hoping to become National Merit Finalists.
