Hello! My name is Katie Velasquez, and I am excited to be joining Life Prep Academy as the Kindergarten teacher. My husband and I have been married for 18 years, and we have four children who all attend LPA.
My passion for working with children began long before becoming a mom. Prior to having children, I taught Pre-K and served as the director of an after-school program at a private school. After our first daughter was born, I had the incredible blessing of staying home to raise our children for many years. This past year, God opened new doors for me as I began substitute teaching at Life Prep and serving as the Interim Director of my church's daycare program.
One of the things I love most about Life Prep is its Christ-centered environment and commitment to helping each child grow academically, socially, and spiritually. I am passionate about creating a classroom where children feel loved, encouraged, and excited to learn.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to join the Life Prep family full-time and look forward to partnering with parents as we help students discover the gifts God has given them. I can't wait to see where God leads these children and to watch them grow throughout the year!

This month at LifePrep Academy, we are celebrating Humility Month as we encourage our students to walk in the example of Jesus through kindness, servant leadership, gratitude, and love for others. True humility is not weakness. It is strength that chooses compassion, honor, and Christlike character.

Please join us in welcoming Kalasia Ferri to LPA! Kalasia is joining us as our theatre and music instructor.

Hello! My name is Kalasia Ferri. I graduated from Sterling College in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in music. During my time at Sterling College, I was deeply involved with both music and theatre. Music, specifically worship music, has always been a passion of mine. The meaning of true worship really changed in my life when I attended Presence Worship Residency in 2021 & 2022. These summers taught us how important it was to have personal devotional time with the Lord, as well as how to usher the Holy Spirit into a place. We spent part of the summer teaching youth how to grow in both their faith and musical abilities.

Currently, my husband and I lived in a small town called Lyons, Kansas, where I have had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mama to our almost 3-year-old daughter, Aria Noelle. I love going on coffee dates with my family and friends, writing music, and honestly starting any new random hobby. Currently, it's making homemade bread! I have worn multiple hats over the last few years: wife, daughter, worship leader, daycare provider, substitute, and paraprofessional. My family and I are very excited to start this new journey at LPA this fall!

Please join us in welcoming Travell Robinson to the team! Travell is joining LPA as our new K-12 Physical Education teacher and head boys' basketball coach.

Hello, my name is Travell Robinson. I am originally from McPherson, KS. I attended Barton County Community College then transferred to Tabor College where I finished my collegiate basketball career and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Coaching. Upon graduation, I lived in Los Angeles, California where I was a junior college basketball coach for 2 years at Pierce College. While there, I was also a skills trainer working alongside overseas and former NBA players to help them gain knowledge of the game.

I am glad to be back at LPA! I formerly served as the assistant basketball coach for LPA for 2 years. I am happy to now serve as the Head Coach and physical education teacher. I’m excited for the new journey and opportunity to help mentor young kids in the right direction: towards Jesus!

We are so excited to welcome Lisa to the LifePrep Academy family for the 2026 to 2027 school year!
Lisa is a joyful, faith filled woman who loves Jesus, her family, and serving others with creativity and purpose. She and her husband are raising their five wonderful children right here in Kansas, and her heart for ministry and community shines in everything she does.
Many already know Lisa for her incredible work as an event planner at her church, where she helps create beautiful and meaningful celebrations ranging from weddings and baptisms to baby showers and church events. She has a gift for making every moment feel special, intentional, and full of joy.
Lisa also brings over 25 years of experience as a professional dog groomer, including show grooming, where artistry and attention to detail truly matter. Her creativity, care, and passion for excellence are evident in all she does.
At LPA, Lisa will be joining our Events Team, helping plan fun, faith centered experiences for our students and families. We know her servant heart, creativity, and love for people will be such a blessing to our school community.
