As our community considers a new Trades FutureReady Center, we're highlighting students exploring other pathways in our three existing centers.
At WPS, students don't just explore careers โ€” they experience them. From assembling airplanes to earning healthcare certifications before graduation, they're building real skills for tomorrow's workforce.

As Tim Hamblin, Executive Director of WPS Career and Technical Education, says: "Today's classrooms are launching pads where the future begins now."

At Wichita Public Schools, our students donโ€™t just explore careers;...

When we talk about how the bond could affect property taxes, we use the median Wichita home value โ€” just over $200,000 โ€” as our common example.

Question 1 asks voters to approve $407.1 million in bonds. If this passes, the tax rate stays exactly where it is today. Homeowners would not see any increase in what they currently pay, unless their property valuation increases.

Question 2 asks voters to approve $207.9 million in bonds. If this passes, the property tax rate would increase, adding about $50 a year โ€” just $4.16 a month โ€” for the owner of a $200,000 home compared to what they're paying now.

We've heard from the community throughout this process, and $50 a year is a threshold that a majority of Wichitans have told us they'd support.

Here's what that looks like across a range of home values.

๐Ÿ“ฌ Learning About Our Community! ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ
Our third graders have been learning all about communities and the important roles people play in making them successful!
Today, they had a special visitor who taught them about the post office and the many careers that help serve and connect our community. ๐Ÿ“ฆโœ‰๏ธ
What a great way to take learning beyond the classroom and help students see how their community works! We love giving our Spartans opportunities to learn from the people who help make our community great! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™
Nothing less than your best! โญ
