Lights. Sirens. Real-world training. During a Major Accident Response Exercise (MARE) with McConnell Air Force Base, our student doctors stepped into the role of simulated patients in a large-scale airplane crash scenario. The exercise brought together military medical teams, along with Sedgwick County EMS and fire departments, to practice coordinated response. These exercises help refine triage and trauma response and give our students a firsthand look at the realities of emergency care.
We’re proud of them for playing such an important role in preparing responders for the real thing.

Garden City Telegram
Medical students from the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine were in Garden City from June 8-13 as part of its Rural Medicine Summer Immersion program.
The program focuses on getting students who have just finished their first year of medical school into rural medical facilities to expose them to rural communities, so they may consider practicing there once they graduate.
While in Garden City, students shadow local healthcare providers at CommonSpirit St. Catherine Hospital and Fry Eye Associates and volunteered at the Kansas Food Bank.
