Saturday, August 15, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In accord with the complementary norm to canon 1246 §2 for the dioceses of the United States, since it is a Saturday, this year the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated. You are not required to attend Mass that day, so there will not be extra Masses on Saturday or a Vigil Mass on Aug 14th. However, Fr. Devin will celebrate a Mass for the Assumption of Mary at 8:00am on Saturday, Aug 15th.

This week, the Diocese formally announced that the St. Joseph House of Formation will become the St. Philip Neri Seminary. The day-to-day operations will remain mostly the same, but this allows the seminary to be recognized around the Church for its formation of seminarians and prospective priests.

Everything is gift. Life is gift. Faith is gift. Family is gift. Vocation is gift. Work, talent, opportunity, health, the sacraments, the parish, and the Church are all gift.
Tithing begins here. It begins with the recognition that all we have has first been entrusted to us by God. The tithe is not simply a donation, a cost offset, or a payment for services. It is a grateful, sacrificial, and proportionate return to God from what God has first given to us.
We give because we have received.
