We are incredibly proud to celebrate Haley Nickelson, Senior Behavior Analyst at Little Stars Therapy Services, for her recognition in the Wichita Business Journal's Excellence in Healthcare!

With a background in social work and a passion for supporting children and families, Haley has dedicated her career to helping others develop meaningful skills, build confidence, and feel supported along the way.

At Little Stars, Haley's impact reaches far beyond her role as a behavior analyst. She's an advocate for the families we serve, a source of encouragement for her team, and someone who never hesitates to jump in wherever an extra set of hands is needed.

Most recently, Haley has helped bring our caregiver support groups to life, creating opportunities for families to connect, learn, and build a sense of belonging within our community.

You may have noticed something a little different about our annual fall celebration this year! 👀

Instead of hosting our Annual Autism Acceptance Carnival, we're bringing our community together for something a little more SPOOKTACULAR — a Sensory-Friendly Trick or Treat! 👻🍬

Why the change?

Because at Little Stars, we believe autism acceptance shouldn't be limited to the month of April. It's something we should celebrate, practice, and encourage ALL YEAR LONG!

Different isn't bad. Our differences are part of what makes us who we are, and every individual deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and celebrated. 💙

This October, we're bringing that belief to life through an afternoon filled with Halloween fun, meaningful connections, and opportunities for children of all abilities to celebrate at their own pace!

Little routines can lead to BIG independence! Our Caregiver Support team recently welcomed parents and caregivers for another Parent Support Group focused on teaching everyday life skills through ABA.

Together, we explored how shaping, prompting, and reinforcement can be used to help children build greater independence with everyday routines like toothbrushing, handwashing, and using the restroom.

Because progress doesn’t always happen all at once. Sometimes it starts with tolerating the toothbrush for a few seconds, completing one more step independently, or needing just a little less help than yesterday. 💛

Our goal is to give caregivers practical strategies they can take beyond the session and use during the routines that happen every day at home.

Thank you to every parent and caregiver who joined us, asked questions, shared experiences, and continues to show up for their child’s growth. We love creating opportunities to learn alongside you! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Ryan Baker, Mental Health Clinician at Little Stars Therapy Services, who has been recognized as one of the Wichita Business Journal’s 2026 Healthcare Heroes in Inpatient/Outpatient Therapy.

For Ryan, this work goes far beyond conducting an evaluation.

It’s listening when families need answers.
It’s creating an environment where children feel comfortable showing what they can do.
It’s collaborating with parents, physicians, schools, and providers.
And it’s helping families better understand both their child’s needs and their strengths.

After recognizing a growing need for Autism evaluations in our community, Ryan partnered with Little Stars to help build a psychology department dedicated to expanding access to high-quality diagnostic services for local families.

One of his favorite parts of the work? Watching a child demonstrate a skill their family may have never seen before.

Those moments matter.

Wait… THAT’S ABA?

ABA therapy doesn’t always look like sitting at a table and “doing therapy.”

Sometimes it looks like blowing bubbles.
Sometimes it’s playing a game.
Sometimes it’s making a snack, asking for a break, cleaning up, or learning how to navigate a new experience.

Behind those everyday moments are opportunities to build meaningful skills in communication, social interaction, independence, play, and daily life.

At Little Stars, we believe learning can happen in the moments that matter.
