Today we honor the the victims, survivors, and first responders of the September 11th, 2001 attacks by hosting our second annual Day of Giving. There were over 1,000 Maize South High School students volunteering in the community at over 35 locations while supporting a myriad of causes. Today our Mavericks embodied our theme of the Golden Standard by actualizing the great words of MLK, "Everyone can be great, because everybody can serve." Mavs Up!

Help us congratulate seniors Meenakshi Ghosh and Paige Kelly on being named National Merit Semifinalists!

The distinction is awarded to approximately 16,000 students nationwide, representing about the top 1 percent of the 1.2 million students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during their junior year.

Paige and Meenakshi will now compete to become National Merit Finalists. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will award approximately 6,700 scholarships worth about $24 million.

Happy Summer, Mavericks!
If you or someone you know wants to donate blood this summer, I want to alert you to Wichita's patriotic annual "Red, White, & You" drive taking place next Thursday, July 2, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm downtown at the Red Cross blood donation center.

Three reasons to choose this drive:
1. Donations hit a summer lull when schools are out and people travel.
2. Several MSHS students will volunteer and donate at this drive!

Before we were reminding you to wear your IDs, we were just like you, counting down the days until graduation! 🎓

The hair might be different and the filters a bit dated, but the excitement is the same. The classes of ‘87, ‘94, ‘95, ‘02, and ‘06 want to give the MSHS graduating class of 2026 a giant MAVS UP!

Mavs, help us congratulate the 17 outstanding high school students who traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to compete at BPA Nationals! They competed against the best students in the country. Needless to say, just being there is a tremendous accomplishment in itself. We are proud of each student for their success and for representing our school with professionalism.

The students are Morley Coleman, Hayden Frasco, Ruven Funschelle, Jack Hemmelgarn, Mira Hendrickson, Kayla Keener, Isabelle McKown, Abe Michel-Cano, Stephanie Nguyen, Tayden Nguyen, Adrianne Philbrick, Christian Shields, Asher Smith, Annabelle Taton, Miekka Vinduska, Cody Vo-Pham and Fabyan Yalda.

Hayden Frasco was one of only two people who scored high enough on the test to earn the National Merit Scholar. She also competed in Health Research Presentation and placed in the Top 10. Hayden Frasco, Ruven Funschelle and Christian Shields were Ambassador Torch Award winners as well.

Congratulations to all of our Maverick BPA National competitors!
