S*K 2026 6A Team to Watch

Wichita Southeast enters 2026 looking to build on a 7-3 season while continuing to establish itself as a contender in the GWAL. Head coach Corby Milleson enters his third season at Southeast and 13th overall as a head coach, with the Golden Buffaloes returning experience at the skill positions and six defensive starters.

Southeast will lean on its aggressive defense, which remains the strength of the program. Senior Kenny Jackson returns after recording 65 tackles and 16 tackles for loss, while senior Will Obar, sophomore Kearion Harrison and several other experienced defenders give the Buffaloes plenty of pieces to keep the pressure on opposing offenses.

Offensively, senior running back Kedrick Harrison returns after rushing for 1,523 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 6.6 yards per carry. Senior quarterback Mack Obar also returns, along with his twin brother Will, who moves to tight end to strengthen the flexbone attack. The addition of junior running back Ja’Maree Jones, a transfer from Derby, adds another weapon to the offense. Replacing all five offensive line starters will be the biggest challenge, but if Southeast can develop its young linemen, the Buffaloes have the returning playmakers and defensive identity to make another postseason push.

Friday (tomorrow), our staff will rep the colors orange and blue as we honor the beautiful legacies of Jonette Shuja and LeAndra Poole💙🧡.

While we are grateful to continue our work in these classrooms, we pause to remember that they are no longer here to share in the journey. Buff family, we will carry forward Jonette’s quiet strength and LeAndra’s generous servant heart in everything we do.

Southeast High School is undeniably a better place because of the impact they made. Let their memories remind us to teach with renewed purpose, gratitude, and love every single day. We miss you both, and we carry you always in our hallways.
