The hardest and most hidden side of out-of-hospital medicine. We hate it when we have to call them, but they do amazing work when we do.

Thank you for all you do! We see you!!

We got to talk to a lot of new friends at Trappers Rendezvous, Quivira Council last weekend, if you want to come hang out with us some more, our next meeting will be Sunday January 28th. We will be meeting at EMS Post 21/ Derby Fire Station 82, 1401 N Rock Road. Please park in the lot on Rock Road and enter through the front door.

We'll be doing a new member orientation at 1500 (3pm) with the regular meeting starting at 1530.

We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

What does it take to keep thousands of scouts and scouters safe in Sub-Zero temperatures?

Planning for the 47th annual Trappers Rendezvous, Quivira Council began before the 46th camp ended. In the last year numerous meetings were held between Quivira Council, Boy Scouts of America , EMS Explorer Post 911, Halstead Fire/EMS, Harvey County Parks, Harvey County Communications, Harvey County Sheriff, Harvey County Emergency Management, Harvey County Parks and Sedgwick County EMS to plan for eventualities from the mundane to the extreme. Long before the forecast was known, there was a plan in place to watch for the safety of participants in both the conditions we faced and far worse. Specialized equipment was supplied by Sedgwick County EMS, Harvey County, Derby Fire Rescue and United Rentals to prepare, prevent and respond to any safety concerns. The EMS Explorers who provided on site medical support at Trappers Rendezvous trained for the last year under the guidance of advisors with decades of Emergency Medical experience.
Even now, as the dust settles on Trappers 47, our team of dedicated professionals from our community partners are already hard at work planning for whatever Trappers 48 can throw at us, and the Explorers of Post 911 will be there every step of the way!

Incredibly proud of how our Explorers at Post 911 handled the extreme conditions at Trappers Rendezvous, Quivira Council today. We were busy and the pace of operations was frantic at times but the Explorers really pulled through today and continue to impress me with their professionalism and compassion.

Happy New Year!

We will be having a special training and planning meeting to discuss our deployment to Trappers Rendezvous this Sunday, Jan 7at 1500.

Our normal meeting place is unavailable, so we will be meeting at EMS Post 11/Derby Fire Station 82 at 1401 N Rock Road in Derby.

Friends and supporters, meet the Plano 747-M "Med Box"
These tough boxes were the gold standard of Emergency Medical Services kit for over 40 years and some say, they still are...

Post 911 has 5 of these fantastic kits, 2 were acquired in the late 90's, another in 2010 and 2 more in 2022. They serve as our first aid station boxes and contain our mobile medical facility and aid station supplies allowing us to set up a fully functional and equipped aid station anywhere we are asked to go!

While the debate rages on in EMS about the future of these kits, their rugged durability and easy to work out of design makes them an invaluable part of our kit and will remain so for many years to come.

To ensure that long service, this kit has come into the workshop for some well-deserved TLC. Over the next few months it will be stripped down and restored to as close to new condition as we can get it. Stay tuned for.updates on the progress!

Meet Master Crewman Danica!
Danica is one of our most senior members and a key part of our youth leadership team! Danica loves riding out with EMS units as often as she can and all that ride time takes a toll on uniforms, so I have no doubt that she will be wanting to use some of the money she raises from popcorn sales to help offset those uniform costs!

Danica is preparing to take the EMT course soon and is excited to continue in her EMS career. You can help support Danica at the link below.

Don't like popcorn? That's ok, there are a lot of other sweet and savory snacks available too!

Meet Crewman Brendan Brack, one of our awesome group at Post 911!

Brendan is hard at work selling popcorn to raise money to help us keep providing first aid to Scout camps and help youth like himself discover the exciting and fulfilling world of Emergency Medical Services!

Recruiting at the Maize Career Academy today! Plenty of swag, so stop on by!! We'll be here until 8.

We are a non-profit organization centered around community youth engagement and providing hands-on education for those interested in pursuing a career in the medical field or public safety. Our program is built for youth ages 14-19, those that are over 16 are eligible for monthly EMS ride-outs. Time spent by members in the program results in community service hours, riding out with Paramedics for full 12-hour shifts, CPR and first-aid certification, and real world experience. We are a program that encourages leadership skills, compassion, integrity and team-building.

As a unit, we deploy our youth and advisors to large public events like River Fest and to Scout Camps across the state of Kansas. At these events, our youth directly provide first aid and work as the safety team. It is important to note that this is not a shadowing; at these events the youth are front and center! When a patient arrives requiring aid, the advisors do simply that, advise. The youth perform assessment and gain experience in hand-on patient care. Our certified advisors observe, offer assistance, guidance and are ready to take over in the event of more complicated or serious situations.

Between events, we meet twice a month at Sedgwick County EMS headquarters where the youth perform a number of activities that are similar to routine responsibilities of EMS field personnel. They check and maintain their own equipment, pre-plan upcoming events and train. Each meeting consists of two short training sessions, one is provided by our staff of certified EMTs and Paramedics and one is provided by the youth members! The Post is youth-led in all areas! Youth who advance through the program are given responsibilities akin to those found in EMS organizations.

If you, or someone you know is interested in becoming a part of our program, please message us and one of our advisors will be more than happy to answer any questions!
