🚁 Landing Zone Training in Action! 🚑

Our WSU Tech EMS Education students had an awesome opportunity to participate in Landing Zone Training alongside EagleMed and Anderson County EMS!

Students got a firsthand look at helicopter operations and learned about landing zone safety, scene preparation, communication with flight crews, and what it takes to safely coordinate air medical resources during an emergency.

Experiences like this take EMS education beyond the classroom and give our students the chance to learn directly from the professionals they may soon be working alongside in the field.

A huge thank you to EagleMed, Anderson County Ems and Anderson County Fire Dept, for taking the time to work with our students, share your expertise, and continue investing in the next generation of EMS professionals. We appreciate the partnership! ❤️🚑🚁

🚑 Proud WSU Tech EMS Moment! 🧡🖤

Today, our past student Karel recognized that a fellow student was experiencing a medical emergency while in class. She quickly identified that something wasn’t right, took action to get help, and made sure the appropriate resources were brought to the student. 911 was notified promptly, helping ensure the student received the care they needed as quickly as possible.

EMS education is about so much more than passing an exam or learning a skill. It’s about developing the awareness, confidence, and willingness to recognize when someone needs help—and knowing what to do next.

Karel, we are incredibly proud to see you step up when it counted. You recognized. You responded. You made a difference. 🚑❤️

👶🚑 When your EMT class takes “hands-on learning” VERY seriously…

There are some skills you just can’t learn from a PowerPoint!

Our students are getting hands-on practice with childbirth and obstetric emergencies, learning how to stay calm, assess the situation, care for mom and baby, and be ready for those calls where there’s definitely no time to Google it. 😅

EMS education can be messy, challenging, occasionally awkward—and that’s exactly why we practice before the real call comes in.

Great work putting in the reps and preparing for whatever gets dispatched next! 🚑💪

Sometimes we’re saving lives… and sometimes we’re saving turtles. 🐢🚑💙

This little guy decided to make a surprise appearance during class the other night and apparently wanted to brush up on respiratory emergencies. 😂

EMS is all about being ready for whatever comes your way, whether it’s a critical patient, an unexpected situation, or a tiny four-legged visitor who needs a little help getting back where they belong.

No patient too big. No turtle too small. 🐢❤️

🚑 Partner Shoutout! 🚑

A huge thank you to Sedgwick County EMS and Major Tyler Sullivan! Tyler has been busy today helping get our high school, adult education, and rural outreach students oriented and ready for their upcoming ride time with Sedgwick County EMS.

Field internships are such an important part of EMS education. They give our students the opportunity to take what they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it alongside experienced professionals in a real-world environment.

We truly value our industry partners and the relationships that make opportunities like these possible. It takes strong collaboration between education and EMS agencies to prepare the next generation of providers—and we’re grateful to have Sedgwick County EMS working alongside us.

WSU Tech is proud to partner with Anderson County EMS to expand access to EMS education in Garnett and the surrounding rural communities.

One of the biggest goals of our rural outreach is simple: meet communities where they are. That means bringing education directly to local agencies, reducing the barriers of travel and distance, and giving current and future responders the opportunity to train in the communities they call home.

These partnerships are about more than a classroom. They’re about strengthening the local EMS workforce, supporting rural agencies, and investing in the people who will answer the call when their communities need them most.

We’re grateful to Anderson County EMS for opening their doors and partnering with us to make rural EMS education more accessible across Kansas.
