Hey! Did you know that Pell Grants are available to help cover the cost for your EMT course?
Maybe you’ve been on the fence because of cost! For the first time ever, Federal funding can help get you into class!
We’re excited to meet you, and while we may be a bit biased we think we’re pretty cool.
New federal funding now available for EMT training.
For the first time, Federal Pell Grants will help cover the cost of short-term EMT training programs at accredited colleges and universities. The Workforce Pell Grant program, announced by the U.S. Department of Education, takes effect this summer.
Here's what you should know:
✅ Pell Grants do NOT have to be repaid. They are grants, not loans.
✅ EMT training programs of 8 to 15 weeks at accredited institutions can qualify.
✅ Students apply using the FAFSA at studentaid.gov.
✅ Career-changers with bachelor's degrees can now qualify. If you have been thinking about a second career in EMS, this opens the door.
✅ Each state's Governor must approve eligible programs before students can receive funding.
This is a meaningful new pathway for the next generation of EMS clinicians, and a chance for career-changers, veterans, and others who feel called to serve to enter the profession without taking on debt.
If you are considering EMT training, or you know someone who is, talk to an accredited community college in your state and ask whether they plan to participate in the Workforce Pell program.

🚑 EMS Week | May 17–23, 2026 🚑
This week, we recognize the men and women of Emergency Medical Services who answer the call on someone’s worst day — often without hesitation, recognition, or enough credit for the impact they make every single day.
EMS is more than lights and sirens.
It is education, compassion, teamwork, sacrifice, and resilience. It is early mornings, late nights, missed holidays, difficult conversations, lifesaving interventions, and quiet moments of comfort when people need it most.
From the classroom to the field, from students learning their first patient assessment to seasoned providers mentoring the next generation — EMS continues to be built on people willing to serve something bigger than themselves.
This EMS Week, take a moment to thank:
🩺 EMTs
🚑 Paramedics
📞 Dispatchers
🏥 Educators and preceptors
🔥 Fire and rescue partners
🚁 Flight crews
❤️ And every provider behind the scenes keeping communities safe
To our EMS professionals and students:
What you do matters. The knowledge you carry, the calm you bring, and the compassion you show changes lives more than you will ever fully realize.
Thank you for continuing to improve outcomes — together.

Congratulations to these students, who have just completed our very first Emergency Medical Responder cohort for Pratt County EMS!
The EMR is the first responder for the first responders, and are a vital resource for communities that benefit from having someone local and able to respond quickly when an ambulance may be further away.
Also a huge thank you to the Patterson Family Foundation for funding this outreach initiative and helping protect the Pratt community!
