Shoutout to Sheppard Elementary for playing a big role alongside some incredible community partners in support of Sheppard Air Force Base's Operation Cookie Drive 🍪⭐

The Cookies Committee set an ambitious goal: ensure all 4,000 Airmen received a cookie bag. That meant collecting 13,000 cookies. Thanks to Team Sheppard (yes, that means you), the community didn’t just meet the goal. You crushed it, donating 14,628 cookies in total.

Proof that when this community shows up, it shows up big. Way to go Sheppard Air Force Base, Sheppard Elementary, and anyone who worked hard to make this happen!! 😄

Wichita Falls ISD is proud to recognize Mr. William Dorsey for his exceptional dedication and service to our students, staff, and community.

Mr. Dorsey, a recently retired member of the United States Air Force, has become an extraordinary presence at Jefferson Elementary—going far beyond the traditional role of a volunteer. What began as a willingness to help in small ways quickly grew into a remarkable commitment to the students and families he serves.

During his active-duty years, Mr. Dorsey regularly visited the Jefferson cafeteria to talk with students about school, home, hobbies, and the interests that make them who they are. These conversations helped build trust, connection, and a true sense of belonging for so many of our Jaguars.

Since retiring, he has continued to serve with unwavering reliability and heart. Now one of Jefferson’s most dependable substitutes, he is always ready to step into any classroom—lower grades, upper grades, essentials, or specialized programs—without hesitation. His flexibility and professionalism support teachers, protect instructional time, and ensure students experience consistent and caring adult guidance.

His acts of kindness also extend far beyond campus walls. When a family’s car broke down in front of the school, Mr. Dorsey quietly helped them with gas and additional funds to ensure they could get safely on their way—an action that speaks volumes about his character and his deep commitment to our community.

This month, WFISD is proud to present the Above & Beyond Award to Mr. Dorsey, a veteran whose impact extends far beyond his service and sacrifice to our country. The Above & Beyond Award honors veterans and military spouses who continue to uplift our district through their ongoing commitment to students, staff, and families. Mr. Dorsey exemplifies the spirit of service, support, and partnership that strengthens our schools and enriches the lives of our students each day.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Catholic Charities Diocese of Fort Worth, Inc. for generously sponsoring this month’s recognition. Their support allows us to honor those who make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

Thank you, Mr. Dorsey, for continuing to serve—with humility, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the children of WFISD. ❤️

On November 5th, Legacy High School was proud to host a U.S. Coast Guard enlistment in our auditorium! 🎖️ Congratulations to Maddux Boatwright on taking this exciting step, and thank you to the incredible Legacy JROTC leaders who joined the celebration: Major (Ret) David Jensen, SFC (Ret) Ronald Williams, SFC (Ret) Kevin Hodge, and Master Chief Petty Officer Andrew Barnes. Your leadership and service inspire us all! 🇺🇸💙

Wichita Falls ISD is proud to partner with our friends at Burkburnett ISD for a special food drive benefitting our military-connected families who are being impacted by the government shutdown.

We know our community has a heart for service, and this is one simple way we can come together to support those who serve us every day. 🇺🇸

📍 Drop off your donations with your campus Military Liaison
🗓 Donations will be collected on Friday, November 14

Items needed include: canned goods, boxed meals, rice, pasta, cooking oil, laundry pods, toilet paper, and more.

This year, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the incredible staff members in our district who have gone Above & Beyond - both in service to our country and in service to our students. 🇺🇸✨

Our very first “Above & Beyond” Award recipient is Mr. David Bartley, Plumbing & Electrical teacher at our Career Education Center.

Mr. Bartley proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee - the Navy’s Construction Battalion. Seabees are known for building bases, airstrips, and critical infrastructure in some of the toughest conditions around the world. That same skillset and work ethic now benefits our students every day as Mr. Bartley trains the next generation in plumbing and electrical trades.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Bartley for his dedication, both to our nation and to our district! 💙💛

⚓ Navy Week is in full swing in WFISD!

This morning, members of the Navy’s Ceremonial Guard Drill Team performed for students at Booker T. Washington Elementary. Starting yesterday, students have had the opportunity to hear from the Navy’s Bureau of Medicine, Meteorologists, Hometown Sailors, and other groups as part of the Navy Week celebrations.

We’re looking forward to the rest of the week’s events! 🌊
