FUMC School for Little People At SLP, childhood is a journey, not a race... The average teacher tenure is currently 13 years. Our curriculum has been designed to facilitate this approach.

Our director and staff are qualified, well-trained, and inventive persons dedicated to early childhood professionalism and are committed to excellence in all areas of our program. Each faculty member shares the vision that the child is the most important person in the school. Our curriculum is firmly play based.There is general agreement in the field of Early Childhood, backed by much research and

study, that most of young childrens' learning takes place when children direct their own play activities. Every classroom environment, learning center, or lesson must allow children to grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.and our staff is able to recognize, monitor, and guide that growth. Does this mean your child will learn about letters and writing, take the first steps toward reading, learn to count, recognize and manipulate numbers, colors, shapes, etc.as you want him to? Yes, most emphatically, but these subjects will be approached in ways that are meaningful to and often suggested by the child.
